Man Kisses Shark. Shark Bites Man.

This may be one of the all-time, stupidest things I've ever heard. And I've heard of divers doing lots of dumb stuff (http://www.divester.com/2005/04/28/biting-the-hand-that-feeds-you/). However, last month, Dave Marcel (http://cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_261124255.html) was diving in the waters off Key Largo and did the unthinkable: he decided to kiss a nurse shark. I guess the shark just wanted to be friends, though, because it responded by biting Marcel's face, leaving him with a severely damaged lip that required extensive reconstructive surgery. To add insult to injury, the blood from the attack attracted snappers, who immediately swam up and helped themselves to a few nibbles, too. According to the cosmetic surgeon who patched Marcel, "Dave's lip looked like it had been put through a meat grinder or a garbage disposal." Ouch! If you can't imagine what the kiss-***-bite must've looked like, it's all on video (http://cbs5.com/video/?id=16430@kpix.dayport.com).
Why on earth would someone want to kiss a shark? Well, Marcel claims he's kissed sharks "hundreds of times " before: "You kind of pick them up, rub their belly, scratch them, hug them. You might as well give them a smooch while you're out there." Right. Surprisingly, it doesn't sound like Marcel has learned his lesson, either. According to him, his personal guidelines for the future will limit his shark-kissing to when the fish is NOT upside down. As though THAT were the problem.
Do I even need to ask what you think about this story?

69 Means Screwing The Public
The Bonehead trifecta is complete. Three bonehead awards in one:
First there is Victor Miguel of Australia, a former bus driver who was finally let go after his 69th bus accident in 6 years, who went through retraining six times, who was observed purposely running a red light, tailgating and driving erratically and who is now appealing his dismissal claiming that few of the accidents were his fault. He's just unlucky to always be running into (literally) bad drivers.
Australia for waiting until he had 69 accidents before deciding that he was dangerous, and
The union which is formally appealing to the government to reinstate Miguel saying that his past driving record is irrelevant, that their only job is to help union members get what they want regardless of the consequences. You can stake you life on it.
Now, don't you feel a lot better about your municipal bus service?

Casino built where gambling is illegal
missing from a new Indian casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, mistakenly built in an area where gambling is illegal.
The $36 million Kewadin Shores Casino and Hotel opened in June and has restaurants, a lounge and an indoor pool, overlooking Lake Huron's Horseshoe Bay north of the Mackinac Bridge.
But its 29,000-square-foot casino with 800 slot machines and 26 gambling tables has been unable to operate because the U.S. government says part of the casino was built on land where Indian gambling is not allowed.
Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians are debating who was responsible for the mistake, with the tribe's current and former chairmen blaming each other, The Detroit News reported Wednesday.
The tribe now is quickly building a $2.5 million replacement casino at the site in Mackinac County's Forest Township, north of St. Ignace.
"It wasn't until after we had the pilings and foundation in place that we realized that something wasn't right," current Chairman Aaron Payment said. "We did another survey and found that all but 30 feet of the casino was on ineligible land."
"Payment knew about the problem before I left office and has had 2 1/2 years to work it out," former Chairman Bernard Bouschor said. "It wasn't me. It was a nice try by him to blame me, but I don't accept any responsibility for his screw-up." There are 17 Indian casinos in northern Michigan, and two are to open in the next two years in southern Michigan. The state's Indian casinos took in $983 million in 2005.
And just forget about that job
How do you catch someone who shoplifts after applying for a job? Why, invite him in for an interview, of course.

LARGO - Criminals have been accused of a lot of things.
But in the case of a 17-year-old charged with stealing from a Halloween store Wednesday, being a smart job-seeker isn't one of them.
After submitting an application to the Halloween store at 100 Clearwater-Largo Road, the teen took a stroll down the aisles and stole merchandise, according to authorities. After leaving, salespeople noticed the missing items and called the police.
Largo police officers arrived at the store just after 8 p.m. The store salespeople then phoned the teen on his cell phone and asked him to come in for an interview.
But when he arrived later that night, instead of a question-and-answer session with the manager, he got handcuffs.
And if that wasn't enough:
"He came in with his infant son," said Largo police Sgt. Butch Ward.
After investigating the case, authorities concluded that the 17-year-old, who resisted arrest, had been shoplifting in the same area earlier that day with a female accomplice. The two hit a nearby Publix and a Walgreens for merchandise, according to reports.
At the Walgreens, 800 West Bay Drive, they put items in a stroller, which held their infant son, authorities said. When store salespeople caught the shoplifting pair, they fled with the baby. It was unclear Thursday how much they stole in total, police said.
By using the West Bay Drive address on the job application, police were able to locate the 15-year-old girl they say helped the boy commit the crimes. The girl was placed in custody after a struggle between her and another woman at the residence, police said. The infant was placed with his maternal grandparents by the state Department of Children and Families, authorities said.
Both juveniles face retail theft and resisting arrest charges. The other woman, Kim Bertrand, 39, was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest without violence and was released from the Pinellas County Jail on Thursday.
