Ok so me and this guy are talking an hes says that his brother is a marine sniper, and he showed me a pic... and told me that the gun was a M82A1, which it was not, it was an AR-50. When I pointed this out hes like w/e

is the AR-50 issued to US Marine sniper teams??

To my knowledge, no branch of the US military uses AR-50 in any capacity. I call bull**** on this guy and his brother.

That is an Ar50 but that guy is not a Marine S/S. Those are pogue boots BTW. That guy is way too unsat to be a Marine in the first place.

Actually...I've seen some pics of Marine Snipers in Iraq with shaggy long hair. Not with a dirty nasty bush growing from their chin though. If this guy came up to me claiming to be a Marine, I would be highly skeptical.

i was with 2nd battalion 4th marines STA plt. 95-97.............we only used m16a2s,m14s, and m40s(remington700with****). Im sure weapon systems have gotten much more advanced than the muskets we used, ??? i guess what im saying is that m14 and m40 were the only rifles we needed to place ONE well aimed round down range, Ooh rah? Ok, so we used SS to refer to SCOUT/SNIPER not the Hitler Jugend DIvision, Totenkopf, Maria Theresa or any of that Sh(^^(&#*&*#. so i hope that clears some things up..: )

The STA guys with 1/3 had M82s in the mid 90s. I never saw our STA guys with 14s. I thought they would of fielded it to Leguene and Pendleton at the same time.

I think you aren't telling the truth. I was in 3/7 during the years you mentioned, and our STA had the M40 and M82. I don't believe the USMC used M14s in a tactical roll (except maybe FAST) until 2001 or 2002.

Other than that, I think Marksmanship Training Units had the M14.

Please tell the truth. I can refer this to people who know far more than me and they will burn you down if you are lying.

Maybe he got hit on the head by his AR-50,which would explain the shaggy mop, and had a vision where he woke up a marine(although I do not know whe he didn't wake up us army sf)....mayB this will explain it better.

I'm with James on this. Our Platoon Sargent who was SS during Desert Storm told us he used an M82 there. I'm calling you out.

My barracks were right behind the Helo pad at san mateo the single rise buttstacks.right infron of first seargents hill. I know that place by heart it was my stomping grounds.I can go on and on......so if you want some more details just let me know INspector Gadget.

I was in 29 Palms. I was deployed to Okinawa from 11/94 to 5/95. We (3/7) were going to be a part of the 31st MEU aboard the USS Belleau Wood, but our float was cancelled when the BW was used for Operation United Shield. K/3/7 and 3/1 went to Somalia.

What does "with" STA mean? Bah, doesn't matter. THis all started because you made some comment about not using .50 and using M14s, something that I, a former grunt (though not STA) have never ever heard of USMC snipers using.

If you are a former HOG, fine. Have a little bit of respect around here too. INsulting others isn't going to win you any points.
