FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 2, 2006 at 5:15 pm
(Ottawa) - The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) in conjunction
with OC Transpo Security have conducted both uniform and
undercover operations over the past week on OC Transpo
buses and at transit stations. This proactive response has
resulted in 13 criminal charges being laid in addition to 3
Liquor Licence Act charges. The criminal charges were
breach of undertaking (non-association), obstruct and
personation for falsely identifying themselves. All of
those charged are young offenders.
OPS is committed to working with OC Transpo staff to ensure
a safe enviroment for all those using and working in the
transit system. Together, we will continue to monitor
activities on the buses and transit stations.

This is really an interesting move because over the course of a week
we had two stabbings on the same route, one resulting in a death.
