Great Pictures. I had an opportunity to do some live fire training with some Legionares on a recent deployment, and I was very impressed. They are truely squared away soldiers. They presented my CO with a beret. Very cool guys.

Very cool. I love the owls.Well, the owl is the symbol of the 1ère Compagnie de combat of the 2° R.E.P. It stands for sharpness and precision.

but i thought owls were nocturnal ? The forces musta brought'em mascots along, as i don't think they're too common in the jungle (forest mostly).

Come'on frenchies, you can't do peace-keeping forces forever, help us out in Iraq/a-stan , isaf or soemthing !

LOL, i really shoulda re-read before i posted, sleep deprivation will do that to ya !

not taking anything away from the French, but they are more capable of stepping up more. Peace-keeping is one thing, but rooting out baddies is something else. THey have the numbers and qualitiy of troops to do some real good in iraq which is very unstable. Help out us Yanks like we did ! This is of course, due to media. They should take up a more active role, so the world knows they can do real important work.

Owls in Ivory Coast ? lolThe owl is a solitary, mainly nocturnal bird of prey. Owls belong to the order Strigiformes, in which there are 222 known species. Owls mostly hunt small mammals, insects, and other birds, though a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found on all regions of the Earth except Antarctica, most of Greenland, and some remote islands.

So true, Saranof. I think th french are doing a pretty active role in Africa, Afghanistan, the Lebanon etc etc etc etc. Also as the QRF of the NATO and so on... just because they didn't participate active in Iraq doesn't mean they are just a little bit "peacekeeping" (the guy speaks this out like some wussie work). To hear that from guys never did anything than posting in forums, watching bad movies and playing CS is annoying.
