I just received my South African water bottles and Auscam carriers today from AustralianCombat Equipment. Two days from ordering to receipt, including custom modifications. Well made carriers that could double as link carriers if needed. Mine were made for belt webbing rather than Molle system (my request). Carriers have two webbing layers to adjust how high the pouches ride on the belt. Very happy with this kit.

Bought a Platatac GPS holder. It was cheap enough for bush walking but it will never get on my issue gear. This Auscam pouch is made from a fabric that shines by day and night. Unfortunate from such a well known supplier. The pouch has two zipper finger tabs for opening/closing. These tabs flap around noisily. They can be clipped off and replaced with a bit of comms cord (green string). But given the item was marketed to the military and bought from a base vendor, this feature should never have gotten past the design stage.

Just a couple of points thast might interest other buyers and if a Platatac type ever reads this...maybe the fabric used to make packs and pouches will change to something more tactical than the current near day-glow.

rub it in the dirt......problem solved.....

Sorry, no cigar. Done that with a pack. It showed up in NFE goggle brighter than issue gear. Wish it was that easy, some of the guys have spent hundreds of dollars on this day-glow crap. Word is getting around so hopefully sales drops will cause a change in materiels. Plat make some good stuff, just not for military use.

Resolution: Take your $ to another vendor.

They have IR resistant materials available. The cost of the extra protectant would make it out of reach for the average user.

If you want IR protected material and equipment.....go get some Land 125 kit.

Rub it in the dirt?

You shouldn't have to.

If the gear is as good as he claims, shouldn't it be good to go straight off the shelf?

If you're going to use it out bush, it will eventually get dirty anyway but that's beside the point.

And at the end of the day, wouldn't you prefer buying your kit from someone who's actually carried a rifle in the field and used a pack and webbing?

This guy has done neither, never will because he's nothing more than a fvcking t-shirt wearer.

"We proudly manufacture the majority of products in Australia"

Bollocks.

R and D staff, "They must be alright because one of our competitors spends a lot of time trying to poach them"

Maybe they've gone over to the "dark side" because they can't swallow any more of his ****e. They say the grass is greener.....

"We have sales, manufacturing, development and management opportunities opening up with our expanding Group"

The opportunities aren't there because of expansion, they only exist because of attrition.

"We constantly search the World for cutting edge materials"

Read: I'll buy it if you can sell it to me cheaper that the last guy did.

"Platypus Outdoors Group is a family business and very tight knit"
"it’s a great place to work"

Explain then if you will why so many have left or "defected"?

There are few imitators around too, but none have spent the time or had the driving passion to see it through.

Did I use bollocks already?
Imitators?
How's this for taking a swipe at imitators?

Heres a pretty long shot - try washing them, not in detergent, just a bucket of water and old fashioned soap and stick it out to dry. It might be theres some sh*t on it thats causing the problems. Hope it works for you.

Sorry to say, but the Aussie 'Tactical' aftermarket has a long way to go, before I'll start spending my money back onshore again (if I cant make it myself). Overpriced and made by guys who don't have much real 'tactical' experience. And I won't even bother to mention what I think of some the businesses that do 'tactical' gear modification
