U.S. soldiers were said to have been attacked by camel spiders at night but remained completely unaware of their plight until they awakened in the morning to find chunks of their flesh missing.

nice but chances are probably remote.

Camel spiders can traverse desert sand at speeds up to 25 MPH, making screaming noises as they run.

Thats like out of a horror movie!

Reading these myths; some people seem to exaggerate a little over the dangers of spiders.
I have to admit that "large spiders that eat you while you sleep" does sound like a good idea for a horror movie.

They're not exactly spiders. They're more in the family of scorpians. But who cares!? They're big and they bite!

Uhhh, guys, this topic was done to death in the mainstream press over a year ago. For those of you who didn't read the link originally posted, please note it was from an Urban Legend site, debunking terrors of the Camel Spider.

Do a Google search on the topic and you can see that the Camel Spider is actually a virtually harmless (although scary looking) creature.

I don't care if its "harmless"! I'll jump 8 feet if I saw one of those things. Can't take chances.
