Well, as if any more evidence of the brutality, cruelty, and terroristic nature of the Iraqi insurgency was needed the Iraqi insurgents today threatened to burn alive the three innocent Japanese civilians on video tape while holding a nife up to each of their throats threatening to slit them and let them choke to death on thier own blood............
Its time the Japanese sent over some of thier highly trained special forces units and got them a little combat experience in hostage rescue......I know it sounds odd but why not? Think of the moral boost ot the Japanese if thier soldiers were able to succesfully rescue thier abducted and tortured citizens..........then again, it would be a disaster if they failed??
But seeing what people like this already did to Daniel Pearl in P-stan and what they often do to Russian civilians/soldiers and many others in Chechnya and what they have done in the past to western tourists in Egypt, Sudan, Morrocco, Iran, A-stan, Indonesia etc etc etc.....I would say this is surely one case where an armed rescue attempt is priority #1.
Somehow I dont think these radicals will be willing to negotiate unless it is to make impossible demands......I say we use negotiation as a stalling effort to gain intel and then attempt a rescue....its the only chance these poor Japanese have of escaping being burned alive.....If I were in thier shoes I would rather be injured or even killed by a bullet in a rescue attempt than be burned alive....at least I would hopefully know that my captors were on thier way to hell soon enough!!!
