Hi, This is my first time to post thread in MP.net.

I bought one EO TECH M551 one year ago. It worked fine until I found the brightness level got downward recently. I adjusted to the max brightness level but it is still difficult to see the reticle in outdoor with strong sun shine. In the past, I could see the reticle even i did not switch to the max level. :-(

I already did the following things before posted this thread:
1/ used the new batteries
2/ cleaned the contact points in both the battery cap and on the sight itself.
3/ ensured the batteries are inserted properly.

I have not dropped the sight on the ground or into water. I cleaned it regularly. Have you ever experienced this similar problem? I dug into the EO TECH troubleshooting manaul and it does not mention anything about this problem. Please see if you guys can help me. I live in Hong Kong and heard rumors that every EO TECH sights sent to State for repair will not be returned to the users unless they are the law enforcement in HK.

You are welcome to delight me any suggestion if you have. Thanks!:)

Or maybe email them, as it might cost you a pretty penny to call EOTEch from Hong Kong;)

Never heard of that problem, and I usually bang da hell out of my sights !!!

Your best bet is email I guess......unless you can find a toll free number (international) ....

Is it a real Eotech or a copy?

HI, Thanks for all your suggestions. I will send e-mail to EO-Tech. But I think they may ask me to post the sight to them finally....

It is a real EO TECH sight. I also bought the M553 2 days ago. It has a lot of improvement over the past models. Quite user friendly.

As you are in HK just as I am, I would try SupremeCo. They sell EOTechs, so they should know how to handle this.

Btw, I got several EOTechs myself (551 & 552) and never had your problem.
Both are Revision F, meaning they are the new improved Versions.
Look for an a small "F" at the lower right corner on the side of the "For Law Enforcement/Military" markings.

The sad thing is I did not buy that M551 from Supreme 1 year ago. I bought from QRF - a specialised store mainly for the gun club members.... The new M553 is bought from Superme.

I will check for the "F" when I return home tonight. Thanks for your help.:)

Forgot to mention. I also informed QRF. They are also checking this issue. They told me that another client also had this similar problem a couple of months ago. One special thing is both of our M551 were packed in the old version white card boxes. I think the new versions are packed in color boxes now. Just as my new M553. So they are checking if there is any relation to the production default. I will also send e-mail to EO Tech.

I got two of mine in the all white cardboard boxes, and I have not had a problem. All are Rev F 552s.

Yes. All my friends also told me the same. Their sights do not have this problem. I will check with EO Tech. Thanks for your info.
