RF to reduce energy export to Ukraine, Belarus, Baltics
13.10.2006, 15.13, ASTANA, October 13 (Itar-Tass) - The energy holding Unified Energy System of Russia will reduce energy export to Ukraine, Belarus, the Caucasus and the Baltic states in winter time, the holding CEO, Anatoly Chubais, said on Friday.
“At present, Russia faces extreme shortage of energy capacities. We have to take all necessary measures to use effective capacities in autumn and winter to the most,” he said.
“We’ll introduce changes to our export-import policy, minimizing export and maximizing import,” Chubais said.

hahaha :D
For a greater good this time!
I think it's because there was some warmth on the Warsaw - Moscow line after last Lavrov visit here, he even wanted us to solve the Polish minority in Belarus problems.

There will be the Festival of the Russian Song in Zielona Góra (in my region). It was called "Festival of the Soviet Song" in the 80s and was suspended at the beginning of 90s.
Second news is Janna Bichevskaya and Yevgenniy Ponomariov begin their tour in Poland this month.
They will give a concert in Warsaw on October 22nd.

Let's enjoy the warmth while it lasts, until such time as we become enemies again p-)
Now if only the Baltic states and Ukraine could agree to see things from our perspective a little more. Perhaps we can also see things from theirs as well, but history should stay history.

It won't make a difference, as this hydrogen energy can be monopolised like any other.
People, the article is about export of electricity. It bears no relation to export of oil or gas or coal or uranium.
As a result of crisis in 1990s, many Russian power stations turned out unloaded and began to export electricity. However now the consumption of electricity increases unexpectedly quickly in Russia itself and these reserves disappear.

Perhaps a balanced policy is in order. One that will give us the most overall benefit, in which a nationwide campaign is organised in order to reduce wastage of energy, but not enough to reduce living standards.
We will then have more energy to export, and make a profit out of.
