Ridiculous, but they shouldn't completely get her away with it, maybe something like house-arrest for kiddies oir something.

Whats so ridiculous?
If she commited a crime she should be taught a lesson.

But going as far as to arrest her? They could have just decapitated her favorite doll... rofl

they could have made her stand against the wall and simulate an execution ... would have been a great lesson, I guess

As someone who has 16 years of experience in law enforcement....

I think the officer acted appropriately here. There was a victim willing to sign a complaint, and evidence to support the arrest.

While I don't know this for sure, the handcuffing of the girl was probably mandatory under the department policy (most departments require handcuffing anyone placed under arrest).

Keep in mind exactly what this girl did...she entered someone else's home and took their property. Depending on the specific elements of the law, that is burglary of a residence, which is a felony crime (regardless of the property value).

It's a sad situation, but that is what we pay our police to deal with...it's too bad that the situation got that far out of hand.

To go as far to arrest her, ofcourse, when she's older she'll remember the feeling of getting arrested and how she cried, and probobaly would think twice before alot of things ;) .
