Howdy,
Some of you may have seen Apache Glory (http://www.warriorswithwrenches.com/apache1.wmv) or Fallen Soldier Ceremony (http://www.warriorswithwrenches.com/fallensoldier1.wmv) as I've noticed hits from this site occasionally over the years. Some more popped up recently, and I thought I'd link a couple more that never got linked on the Warriors With Wrenches (www.warriorswithwrenches.com) video section.
Mission Launch Sequence (http://www.warriorswithwrenches.com/missionlaunch.mp4)
The videos were put on the site for family members of the unit to watch as updates while we were deployed. And I used the footage for a unit video that I edited documentary style (as you'll notice in the Mission Launch sequence). I also edited a final "trailer" for the unit videos a while ago that never got linked: "Deployed" (http://www.warriorswithwrenches.com/deployed1.mov)
I think it also serves to show others the human side of a deployment and that you can make the best of any location and environment (our "Starbucks Afghanistan" (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A43007-2004Jan23¬Found=true) for instance, which is featured in the new book the "Starbucks Experience")
I deployed with an Aviation unit, but it didn't stop me from taking photos (I took the photo which ended up being selected as the first cover (http://www.gxonline.com/past_issues/issues/gx1-1/01GX1COVER.pdf) for the "Guard Experience [GX] Magazine) and videos, providing some history here and there.
In the end, it gave me the opportunity to work as a camerman on the National Guard's latest production: CITIZEN SOLDIER (http://www.1800goguard.com/downloads/citizensoldier/index.php)
I would encourage you all not only to keep at photography if you're into it, but also to take part in military service whether part time or full time. It's a great feeling to give back to your country and provides a wealth of experience that you can build on in the future.
P.S.
Everytime I've seen a discussion on Apache Glory, there's a lot of back and forth regarding the accuracy of the FFAR's. What is hard to tell is that the Apache's are practicing "run & gun" shots meaning they're flying high speed (they're not in a hover), and the weapons are not guided. So cut them some slack ;)
