Turkish Nationalists Sue Nobel Committee over Orhan Pamuk

Top news: 15 October 2006, Sunday.

Turkish nationalists intend to sue the Nobel Committee for awarding the Nobel Literature Prize to Orhan Pamuk, local Turkish media reported.

The initiator of the idea is one of the leaders of the Union of the Lawyers in Turkey, Kemal Kerincsiz. He believes the Nobel Committee awarded Pamuk the prize guided by political reasons.

This is not the first time when the controversial Turk author faces lawsuit from the nationalists. In 2005 he was charged with "insulting Turkishness".

The charges relate to a Swiss magazine interview in which Orhan Pamuk said 30,000 Kurds and one million Ottoman Armenians were killed in Turkey and no-one dares talk about it.

That would be the Norwegians. Alfred Nobel, a smart guy, decided to give the decision to them, as he obviously knew there would be whiney little ignorant bit**es on the net complaining all the time.

Arafat shared his prize with 2 other guys for being involved in the peace process. I can't see what the problem is. OH SNAP! A terrorist? Well you don't make peace with your friends now do you...
