View Full Version : another contractor killed

really seems like some things are getting out of control!

A Winter Park man providing private security in Iraq was killed in a firefight Thursday, hours after sending an e-mail to his friends at the ski resort about the danger and the rapidly closing options he faced.
"We are expecting to be overrun tonight, and we may have to fight our way to a safe haven. Unfortunately all the safe havens are already under attack," Mike Bloss had written Wednesday in his last e-mail to a small group of friends. "I don't wish to alarm you. We'll probably be OK!"
But his friends received the devastating news early Thursday that the 38-year-old had not survived the battle that spared the three Western contractors he was protecting near the town of Hit.
"We've lost a family member," said a disconsolate Beth Fox, operations manager for the National Sports Center for the Disabled, the Winter Park-based organization Bloss had served for several years.

The amount of iraqis who want you there decreases every day, and the terrorists get stronger by the day.

I cant really believe that all of you thought that it would be a easy war, did you really think all the terrorists would put their guns down after you occupied the country?
It will probably even get worse if thats possible.
I am not anti american, well maybe anti american goverment. But i wish the troops (of all nations) down there good luck.

A moment later same persons write that this iraqi f***ers should all be killed. So please be professional and get over it by making solutions to solve those problems why they are getting killed rather than just write "RIP"-stuff without writing anything about the topic itself. :bash: :slap:

Don't get me wrong - but it''s too tragic. You just can't write this **** 10 times a day and think it will get better while writing it.

SoulHunter, in your statement did you mean that it was U.S. specific, or did you mean what Maine Finn said - that any occupation force would be disliked by the Iraqi people (regardless of how happy they might be to get ridd of Saddam)?

Don't think you guys will end up friends, but I figured I'd at least try to see what exactly SH meant. Don't really have any questions for TP as you've already made it clear that you saw SH's post as purely anyt-American.

that is exactly my point! Listen Marine, I am quite certain that you know better than most, you can't just yell at people to get in the kill zone; sometimes you must use something the army calls finesse and just let them walk into it ESPECIALLY if they are headed there on their own. And no Marine, finesse isn't just the shampoo that makes the ladies hair smell p'rdy or washes the funky fat chick stink out your pubes.

And for the hydra, maybe if the same ten persons stopped to throw them their same ten insults we would get rid of "trolls".
What is the point of getting in a debate with them? You sleep better? Now you can stop, your message has passed, you don't like anti-americans you do them all these bad things, you kill them. And now you can stop to argue five pages.

Don't worry, you're safe. There isn't much about a 38-year-old male ex-Marine that I find attractive.

That is unless you have nice cup-Ds, raven-black hair, look 18, got a thight ass and a rare birth defect which gave you female instead of male genitals.
Never mind.

Well, he may not.....

really seems like some things are getting out of control!

RIP

Damn. This is why I respect all that have served and serve.

Btw are Marines jump qualified?

Also just curious, have you ever been to Israel while you were a Marine?

I know over the years we have "hosted" you guy’s every now and then in joint trainings and such (and certinly before the Iraq war, in where some Marine units and some army units came to Israel for some Israeli MOUT training and techniques)

I in fact posted a pic a while ago, which I will repost here of a solider in the Marines Corps Force Recon during CQB training in Israel (this pic was taken a few years ago)

Not all Marines are jump-qualified, but SOF types like Recon will usually get around to static-line and HALO jump training (to my knowledge). I have seen Marine infantry units doing fastroping though.

That's my knowledge on it, but I'll leave confirmation to TP, Scrim, James, the real guys.

Shalom :D I lived in the ME for 2 years and as close as I got to Israel was going through the SUEZ,couple different time. Went to train in Egypt,Saudi Arabia,Bahrain, fought in Kuwait,Iran and Iraq! I have been to over 20 countries and iam sad to say that I have never been there.
I dont throw stuff out like this much but I have a lot of respect for Israeli's and your armed forces......the utmost respect!!! I was raised by my step father (I consider him my dad and he died in 97)since the age of 2 and he was Jewish and the biggest influence in my life!! I look like a typical Aryan, blonde hair blue eyes and full of tattoo's, but if somebody talks **** about the Jewish people and their culture they gotta go through me and it wont and hasnt been pretty in the past when it has happened!

BTW I actually answered the jump qual question in another post before this one. Wow what can I say other then the respect is mutual my friend.

And yes for me as well, if anyone were to talk **** about the U.S. they would have to go through me!!, though to be honest, in Israel there isn’t too many people doing that to really ever be on alert for ;) :D

Oh and thanks for answering my other question in the other post.

After reading it I was actually reminded of one of the many reasons why I like this site in that as people can tell, my English isn’t bad, though my military slang in english and other military things in English isn’t up to par and that is because all of my training and military service was conducted in Hebrew and coming to this site has me learning and picking up all the military catchphrases, acronyms in English.

So when for example before all I knew was the Hebrew word “Lashab” now I know the English translation, MOUT.

Or just the little nuances like I said jump qualified and I see you put it as jump qualled

Anyways I really appreciated your post and letting me in on a little about where you stand, for its most defiantly appreciated and certainly even more so coming from a U.S. Marine, a military branch that gets my utmost respect!!

P.S. Too bad that you have been almost everywhere in the Mideast and missed out on ever coming to Israel, for I know or I have heard that Israel is one of the favorite stop overs amongst U.S. military service personal then most other places.

Hell I can understand it, I mean where else in that region can you get the prettiest women, the beautiful beaches, the clubs, the bars, the touring of tons of historical sites, oh and did I mention the women with uzi’s, and M16’s slung over their backs, all wrapped up into one tiny nation :D

I really wonder what you imagined the Iraq war to be??

Really the liberator and roses stuff that Wolfowitz talked about?

I have to say I was pretty optimistic as well. Call me naive or whatever but I assumed the Iraqi people would know a good thing when they have it and take advantage of the Coalition forces presence to rid their country of these fundamentalist whackjobs. Turns out I was wrong. Looks like Iraq will be going right back down the drain to the sewage plant of history as soon as the US & the rest of the countries pull out. Tribal warlords and religious whackos chopping of women's heads for showing too much ankle. I say they get what they deserve.

Mexico is the #2 country in the world for kidnappings and being foreign(japanese) he stands out like a sore thumb. Now of course he makes good money but if the bad guys know who he works for then they can ask for a much larger ransom.I was also on a 6 man hostage rescue team that was called to get a wealthy foreign businessman that was kidnapped in Mexico City and taken about 2 1/2 hours south up into the hills. These I like because the money is unbelievably good. dont ask for details please.
