Greetings,

I have an M-3 Bipod that I acquired during Operation "Just Cause" that is obviously a “Colt” clone but has no Manufacturer’s marks/numbers on it.

That being said, the odd part is that one of the legs has a spring-loaded, flip-out modification that for all intents and purposes looks like a can opener. It is about four inches long and the pivot-point is about three inches from the lower elbow.

I have never seen this before and I have been an Infantryman since 1984. It was never on any M-3 I was ever issued/used. I cannot find it online anywhere nor is this mod mentioned in any of the 12 TMs/FMs that speak to M-16 series bipods.

The case is somewhat different than any I have seen before as well. It is heavy canvas, with one snap and there is no cleaning gear pouch like on many of the nylon cases.

The last odd thing is that it is heavier than the Colt M-3 and seems to be better made.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
