I hear the SU-76 was particularly disliked by its crews and called "The Bitch."

It was cramped, void of any concern for crew survival or comfort and it was the only open top tank design - I'm sure, many of the SU-76 crew members wished they were assigned to T-34 or KV-1 models.

I've read memoirs of the SU-76 driver and he had nothing but praise for the machine - of course, he was not exposed in the open top to return fire p-)

It was nicknamed "Suka" - literally a female dog, but it's somewhat less demeaning that other russian words for "Bitch". "Suka" could almost be taken as a compliment, depending on the context - bitch is pretty much all around insult. SU-76 was not as Loathed as "Grave for Seven Brothers" or the "Churchills" though :)
