View Full Version : The Return of Bagdhad Bob
Has Bagdhad Bob returned to spew propaganda on events in Iraq through a few posters?
For the past few weeks, militaryphotos.net has been bombarded with posts from those with an anti-American agenda. They are in support of Baathists, religious zealots and criminals who are currently fighting the coalition; however, they call them patriots and rebels. Any and every newsflash that is pro-insurgency is posted, most of them with little credibility. The sole purpose of most of the propaganda has been to incite and not to educate.
I am not a Bush supporter, but I do believe we have to support the troops now that they are in a life and death struggle, so I must admit, it pains me to see these blatantly anti-G.I. posts on a web site that is dedicated to fighting men and women of all nationalities.
There are only five or six who are doing this, but they are "spamming" the site with an incredibly high number of these posts to the point where one has to assume that they aren't here to share information or to learn anything but just to provoke and disrupt.
I have learned to ignore these posts by not responding to them. It is difficult not to lash out at their stupidity and need for attention but I think you only feed these trolls when you question their motives.
I'd be interested in hearing what others think about the recent flood of politically motivated, pro-Iraqi insurgent posts.

I've noticed it. It has really bothered me in the daily photo topic where one individual said a picture of an iraqi insurgent exuberant about the destruction of some coalition members is "awesome". I have a big problem with that because I am from the US and am freedom-loving.
Obviously, these inviduals who are writing those things are anti-american, anti-freedom, and thus anti-progress in iraq. Sometimes I get upset. Sometimes I just laugh. It is sickening, though, that there are people out there who side with terrorists and they actually have the audacity to post their opinions to the public. It is analagous to praising Hitler and how he killed millions of innocent people. Or praising Stalin for executing millions of russians.
Although I hate what they say, I appreciate that they're here because it gives us opportunity to show them where they are wrong. It is also helpful for me to remember that there are people out there who hate us so much that they praise any actions against us.
Just some thoughts.

I can only assume that somewhere in Europe it's spring break. And these tools have nothing better to do...
The sheer volume of posts is ridiculous.

Ok there has been some gloating over the coalitions current misfortunes and yes it has been no better than some of the anti French euro commie dog molester postings of the past. I would like to see more discussion on why the US and the coalitions attempts at country building are going pear shaped rather than the imperialist yanks shoot children posts. Lets keep it real folks.

Well said. Nothing wrong with offerring constructive criticism instead of this litany of negative posts.

Amen. But its like the saying goes "Wish in one hand, S**t in the other and see which fills faster". There are always going to be people in this forum with an 'Agenda' that will turn brilliant coversations into an absolute "US Imperialist S**tbag" flame war. I mean for christ sake I have seen a favorite sandwich thread get turned into absolute drivel. To those who have been posting lately at the misfortunes of some of our troops, just to say "See I told you this was a quagmire", I say to hell with ya. You few that have been posting this garbage with your snide remarks can remember this, we are there, we are not leaving, and if you don't like it join up with Sadr's bunch and we will see you in Fallujah. ;)

You would think though that the media would try and balance all this hype about anti- G.I. and dead soldier stuff with real news, news that is good. I just hate the fact that everytime I log on and jump into the forums all I see is dead G.I. this, dead G.I. that, and a bunch of anti- US stuff. Thats all this place has become for the most part, anti- US.

I think there are really only 2 or 3 of these anti-American nutcases on this forum- but i think each of them also have 2 or 3 different accounts, and make 2-3 anti-american posts a day on each account- so the **** adds up.
But it is annoying. After all- without the imperialist pig bastard zionist entity US Military, this site wouldnt exist.

True it has become anti US but did it bother you when it was anti French or Muslim, the anti American stuff bothers me as does all the other hate. Being called anti-American by BlackRain bothers me as well "pleased are we BlackRain". :P

Regardless of what country you're from you probably have experienced some form of anger directed at your country sooner or later. Even people hate on my country and make absolutely false accusations about it, its a part of being on the internet and having everyone able to access this page world wide. They get to express there opinion wether you like it or not, so its something you have to deal with.
With that said, pointing people out that are anti-whatever only brings attention to there cause. Just ignore them and remeber, not everyone from there country has the same opinion/beliefs as them

Just posting bad news is seen as an offense by most of the "Patriots" in these days, and when you take a look from the opposing direction XASA and Seoulstriker are the worst Bagdhad Bobs of all.
When I have to read something like "The fighters in falludjah are just single foreign terrorists.....", I just can think of "There are no insurgents in Falludjah, there are no citys controlled by rebels, there is no Insurgency in Iraq at all, everything is fine!" :cantbeli:
When the Majority is on the side of the US(and every man there has an AK at home), why are they doing nothing?
The truth has become "anti american", that is your Problem.

As I have said before, two wrongs don't make a right. Also, how often do you anti French or Muslim threads now? Those who were constantly berating other nationalities and religions were banned or have kept their remarks to a minimum. There is no talk of banning these individuals because that is not the American way-- something they seem to have forgotten.
The large volume of posts alone by these few individuals have never occurred in the past with the exception perhaps of the infamous Sixgun. When you have people spamming the site 20 and 30 times a day, it becomes propaganda not discussion. I'm not saying these flamers have to be in the same political arena as I am, but I am saying is we get your point, now lighten up.
Propaganda has a negative connotation these days, but there's nothing inherently wrong with it. We usually use the word to describe anything that supports a view we don't subscribe to. Propaganda, however, usually doesn't sway a person from their opinion but really just reinforces the beliefs held by a person already. These repetitive posts aren't going to change anyone's mind, but only gives those who are doing it a reason to exist. They have to hate something because they don't have much of a life or they aren't happy with their lives. I might be wrong, but I really can't see how anyone who spends so much time posting hateful rants has much of an outside life aside from sitting in front of a computer screen and being a pest. In doing so, they are probably getting more attention then they have ever gotten in their lives.
Also, to see these pro-insurgents rooting for failure in Iraq is disconcerting since they have yet offer an alternative solution to the problem, nor have they written anything original. It is also very boring, I will continue to attempt to ignore them since they seem to live for confrontation, but there will be times, I'm sure, when I will dragged down to their level.
