Is there still a use for the old '90 Rounder' Mags? I suppose they have been took over by the C-Mags.

I suppose there is still a use for them on FN Minimi's since the C-Mag doesnt fit on them.

I don't think the c-mag or many other hi-cap mags are issued out in large numbers to any military besides for LMG's, GPMG's, and HMG's....

They would use link ammo instead.

I had one for my AR years ago and decided it was the single largest waist of money I had ever purchased. It was only $49 at the time. Before the ban, the spring starts to get stiff at 60 rounds and at 60 rounds you can't use stripper clips anymore. It was one round at a time using the little force feeding rod they gave you with it, till it bent out of shape and then your thumb quickly got sore.
To top it off because of the lenght of the spring it would not use blank ammo too well, a lot of stove piping out of it or somply not feeding at all. Not a good investment at all.
And no, that particular mag would not fit on an M249. When you insert a magazine into the mag well on a SAW a little flipper door goes up inside the mag well and has a detent on it that acts as the mag catch. To remove the magazine you press down on a tab that is on the top of the flipper door/dust cover and it allows you to pull the magazine out. The tab one the flipper door would not fit in the space between that feed neck and the main body of that magazine.

NO, but there are these really neat containers that hold 100 or 200 linked rounds. They're really convenient.

I am kinda partial to the 400 round shoulder bag myself. :)

I'm rather partial to the "nut sacks" rather than the "pork chops".

well, LMG variants of assault rifles would use high cap mags.. although, i've never seen Beta-c or drum mags recently and the box's that contain 200 links would be much more suited to an MG4 or Minimi than a high cap box magazine

Sounds like some march to he beat of a different Drum (magazine that is).
I like my beta C, but then I am not likely to have to use it in combat. It requires a little more TLC than a regular mag and is bulkier.

I came close to ordering one when the ban went away, but decided against it and purchased 10 15rnd magaziens for my SIG P226. I did order one up for my in-laws nephew though, I guess he likes it, I haven't really asked him.
Personally, I prefer using mags, stripper clips and spoons work a treat.

Hmmm... Pure from observation - 3 side by side 30 round AR mags would take less space, in or outside the weapon... Comparing it to the layout of drum magazine shows all the wasted space, not to mention ammo box with linked belt. The above can be summed up by "Wasted Space" and lots of it.

Stuka you bring up another goos point, 30 rd mag is how much, $20... That is $60 for three. the Beta C is $250. I bought the Beta C for shorty, a 7 1/2'' barrel AR.
