I and others have in the past posted info and pics of this new Israeli weapon.

Well now there is a new video presentation that was put out about it.

I think it is an awesome video that most here will enjoy.

I just caution that you should ignore the cheesy 80's action music for other then that, it is a well produced little video presentation of the weapon being demonstrated by members of an IDF (Israeli Defense Force) Special Operations personnel during CQB (Close Quarters Battle)/Urban Warfare simulations.

For the video click Here (http://defensereview.com/1_31_2004/cornershot.wmv)
(If there is a problem viewing the video from the link I provided, go to the defense review site that I brought down and right click on the video link there and then save it to your computer and then view in on a video player that you have on your computer that will show it like a real player or a DivX etc..)

(Some of the info and the video is from This site (http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=450))

Here are a few pics of it from the companies website (http://www.cornershot.com)

P.S. I ask that people remember that this is a MILITARY PHOTOS forum and as such I ask that people please respect that there are former (or ever some serving) military soldiers and also military enthusiasts here and to please limit the conversations and comments directly related to this and not go off topic in any snide or off topic remarks as is ****e sometimes to happen on this forum.

I thank those for respecting this request

Anyways I hope everyone enjoys this video :D

Nice concept, but i'd be interested to see how accurate it is. There is no possible way this could be used for anything but extreme close quarters enviroments. Pistol shooting is tough to begin with and this looks to a pistols stuck on the shaft of a rifle wiht a pivot and a camera attached to it.

i liked how they took cover between the donkeys.

israel is always in situations like high school rescues, plane hijackings, bus takeovers, so we are usually in extreme close combat

Not that I understand what that had to do with anything. This "cornershot" feels
like a police weapon rather than something that could be used by the military,
if it isn´t a CT-team that is. If I was a soldier in an urban enviroment I would
rather have a proper 5.56 mm assault rifle + a separate mirror than this gadget.

yea but you have to understand that israeli special forces are always in combat that close, stuff like taken over high schools or hijacked bus's

First I am just curious, did people see the video or are people just commenting on the pics??

Listen this weapon isn’t being handed out to all IDF soldiers or what not, for yes it is more of a swat or a CT weapon and indeed it is in those units that this weapon will be most prevalent.

Btw there are CT units that are part of the IDF and they aren’t just relegated to police agencies

Understand that this weapon is being sold and indeed already has been purchased by certain military or police agencies from a lot of different nations from around the world so while I certainly respect peoples opinions here, well the fact that it is being bought by others in the world kind of speaks volumes as to the success and quality of this weapon.

And yes this weapon is best used for CQB situations and as such that is why you see in the video it being demonstrated in that kind of environment as I already explained before where I wrote that this video shows this weapon “being demonstrated by members of an IDF (Israeli Defense Force) Special Operations personnel during CQB (Close Quarters Battle)/Urban Warfare simulations”

IMO this weapon is a great tool to have for certain CQB situations.

What's with the **** music?haha  yep on my second time viewing it I also thought it was that ;)

Either way, the 80's action music or the **** music, and as cheesy as it is, should not detract from what was seen there.

I still thought overall it was a very good video of this weapon being demonstrated.

thanks for buying from us the IDF is getting poorhey "yeled" knock off these little commants already, ok?

oh and whether the IDF is getting poor or not has nothing to do with this weapon, hell no matter how much it is sold, the money goes to this private company anyways and not to the IDF or anything like that.

This seems very uncomfortable idea. IMHO You had shown us far better thing: normal glock with camera connected to headset instead of this bulky thingy...

This seems very uncomfortable idea. IMHO You had shown us far better thing: normal glock with camera connected to headset instead of this bulky thingy...Yes indeed you have a good memory :D

Well I don’t know which is better, IMO both are very good ;)

Anyway from what I can tell, the Corner Shot is a bit more safer to the operators hand, for with the “Glockcam” he still most extend his hand out where the Corner Shot he does not.
(If you watched the video of the corner Shot that I posted, they have a “scene” where a operator extends his hand and is shot [with a paintball] whereas the Corner Shot prevents that from happening)

Here is that post of mine taken from that previous Thread I posted a while back (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6696&highlight=glockcam)

I believe, from the same Israeli company and R and D division that came up with thecornershot (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6335) , they have also come up with what they call the "Glockcam” (well it can be used for any handgun).

Designed and produced by Helopoint Advanced Systems, the Glockcam personal wireless transmitter /receiver system
provides special units operatives, anti-terror officers etc, with an advanced
Handgun targeting/viewing tool in the fight against crime and terror.

Features
· Allows for ‘round the corner ‘ sighting of targets without exposing the officer to attack.
· Quick mounting of camera transmitter unit on Glock 19C handgun.
· Operative can view handgun sight on either head mounted display or on wrist mounted receiver / monitor unit.
· Transmitter unit is lightweight and operates continuously for up to two hours on three CR123A button batteries.
· System allows for mutual reception by rest of team and for event recording and future analysis by any recording system such as Helopoint’s V-Cap digital hard disk based recording unit.
· Can be used with sighting units that incorporate laser pointers to increase shooting distance and accuracy.
· Could be mounted on any handgun that is fitted with a Picatinny rail.

Deatails
The “Glockcam” handgun video sighting transmitter and monitor system is built in two separate units.

The first unit contains the video camera and the RF transmitter.
a black & white camera module incorporated offers a resolution of 380 TV lines and has IR sensitivity.
The miniature transmitter operates on a power output of 10mw and at microwave frequency.
The small lightweight unit is fitted to the Picatinny rail adaptor, which simply slides on to, and locks on the handgun.

The second part to the system is optionally a monochrome head mounted EVF or the MCB 2.5RX/HD wrist mounted unit.
The head mounted EVF unit is comfortable to wear has an adjustable eyepiece and can be easily swung out of the way for normal sight of the scene. The wrist-mounted unit utilizes a 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD monitor.
Both the head mounted EVF and the wrist-mounted units are driven by a low threshold sensitive microwave receiver, which is small and lightweight.

So either the wrist.....

or the eye (this pic is on a differnt weapon but it also can be used for the "glockcam")......

Good idea for a weapon. I have seen this weapon before but never in a video. The OICW (which I believe was canceled) also could be used to look around and above things except the US made that weapon.

btw funny music

It definitely seems like an interesting system. It looked kind of awkward to maneuver, though.

Thanks for the great video, IDFM203. The music, though... I was half expecting Chuck Norris to bust through the skylight, spraying an Uzi! ;)

The thing that struck me was when they had the shots of the multiple cornershot weapons sticking out the sides of a window or somesuch. Bobbing up and down, I just could not help but chuckle a little. It reminded me of the old puppet shows. "Heeeey, everybody...how's Mr. Glock today?"

But, overall, it seems that it would add some safety to close quarters entry scenarios. It seems like it might require a lot of retraining and some erasing of "muscle memory" for it to not feel really awkward, though.

The music made it even better.

I watched the vid... two things come to my mind - it might be usefull tool for CT teams, but since the firepower is rather limited (that spraying Glock with 33 bullets mag ist probably as far as it goes) it should be carried rather as a tool (as wirecutters, battering ram, breaching charges) not as a main weapon - and the wideo sugests as it could be. I agree with mustamato - one of "cornershots" per team might be useful just for securing compartmens, checking corners, hallways or so, but AR should be the core of the firepower.

And generally it reminds me of that WW2 idea of German "Krummlauf" designed for Stg43 if I remember correctly.

I am not sure if people checked the defensereview.com link that I posted before, but they also had a video clip of a Fox News interview with the Israeli inventor of this weapon, where he explains the firepower (and I believe its not as limited as some might have thought) and explains a few other details as well.

For that clip, click Here (http://defensereview.com/1_31_2004/fox_news.wmv)

But, overall, it seems that it would add some safety to close quarters entry scenarios. It seems like it might require a lot of retraining and some erasing of "muscle memory" for it to not feel really awkward, though.Indeed as with any introduction of any new weapon and weapon system, a certain level of retraining is needed and this is no exception.

But the added advantages that this weapon can give in certain situations, is IMO well worth any retraining that might be needed!!

I dont know if this was posted in other threads or not, but I found two intersting pics of this weapon being shown at the Eurosatory International Exhibition in paris.

An Israeli army soldier displays a corner shot machine gun during the Eurosatory International Exhibition for Land and Land-air defenSe, north of Paris, June 14, 2004. The corner shot may be adapted to fit most automatic handgun types currently in use and can be used from around corners or behind shelters and barricades. *******/Jack Dabaghian

The music was freaking hillarious. It brought me back to the days of Miami Vice.. Anyways, looks like a cool concept; however, I have a few questions. Can it mount any pistol? I think I saw some auto fire from one of the shooters, is is automatic? Lastly, how do the folks aim? I didn't see any crosshairs on the camera screen.

wanted to post something about the music... geee look all these people posting it already...

anyway, music sucks big time... great video though.

Damn, if they need a good music to compose why don't they call me, I play piano for 15 years, play and compose Jazz, Rock, Classical.
