Does anyone have any photos and information about the UN peacekeeping mission in the Belgian Congo in the 1960s.
Its an important part of Irish military history but its been buried by the peace and neutrality crowd so its very difficult to come across any information, especially about the battles at Elizabethville and the Tunnel.
I know Sweden and India were among the contributors but other than that theres very little info going, any help is appreciated.

1961-1963 the Swedish Air Force had a unit called F22 in Congo, which
consisted of nine J-29B (fighter-attack) and two S-29C (recon). They flew
combat sorties and attacked rebel positions. In "UN Light Aircraft Squadron"
Sweden also had pilots flying transport planes and some planes (I think).

Dag Hammarskjöld, a Swede that was the general secretery of
the UN during the crisis, his airplane was shot down over Congo,
and died. The fighter pilot (flying a Fouga Magister) was probably
a belgian mercenary.
