Local residents look at a man, who was tied to a tree after being apprehended by supporters of the Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO) and accused of theft and rape, in Oaxaca City October 18, 2006. Seven people, mostly protesters, have now been killed in the conflict that began four months ago, when striking teachers and leftist activists occupied much of the colonial city, storming Congress and blocking hundreds of streets in an effort to oust state Governor Ulises Ruiz. The sign reads "Look - I'm a thief and a rapist".

Because their leader could care less about anyone other than himself. I sure wish his people would rise up and over throw him. What will it take. Maybe a few leaflets to trigger the overthrow. its amazing what the scare tactics of Stalinist communism can do. Hopefully theres a light at the end of their tunnel that doesnt leave radiation.

Abidjan, IVORY COAST: Ivorian President Laurent Gbgabo (C-waving) arrives from Addis Ababa where he attended the African Union (AU) summit as hundreds of militant pro-Gbagbo supporters known as Young Patriots, stage a protest calling for Ivory Coast Prime Minister Konan Banny to step down 18 October 2006 in front of the Abidjan international airport. A group of African heads of state decided 17 October, as did those of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) early this month in Nigeria, to extend a transition period by another year under the Gbagbo-Banny duo, an option also approved by the United Nations. To remove the blockages to the peace process, the AU decided Banny be given the "necessary authority" including powers over the military, which Gbagbo, seen by the opposition as an obstacle to the peace process, previously held. South Korea has been paid in the past with arms. They also have BMPs, all traded by the russians in lieu of debt

2005 - A Russia-made Murena-e air-cushion landing craft arrives in Incheon as part of the Russian government's repayment of a loan to Korea under an economic cooperation project between the two countries. Murena-e, a fast naval vessel weighing 105 tons with a maximum speed of 55 knots per hour, left Khabarovsk for Incheon on Oct. 14. It will be formally delivered to the Korean Navy later this month following an inspection, equipment loading and test operations. Two more Murena-e vessels will be transferred to Korea under the loan repayment scheme by 2006. The Navy will use them to salvage aircraft and ships stranded in shallow waters and on wet land. They will also be used to transport personnel and materials. Last May, the Navy sent 24 men to Russia's Naval Education Center and a shipping dock in Khabarovsk for training in the maintenance and operation of Murena-e vessels
