Since my "promotion" to FN MAG (M240) gunner, I must say I kinda like the sound too :D

But there's nothing that can compare to the sound of 3 x FN MAG, 6 x Minimi, and 8 FNC's letting it rip. At night. Goosebumps!

I love the sound of just about anything .308 or .30-06. The 8th round of a Garand is the best "gun sound" IMO.

now i sound like an ass, what I ment was there is a difference between recorded sound (as heard on tv, game, movies) and actuall sound, I must have misunderstood the original poster and asumed that he was asking about the actuall sounds (plus I had a bad day yesterday so dont hold it against me)

Nah it's alright.. everyone has a bad day. p-) I thought that those weapons in the videos would sound the same up close..? Like the MK19, 50 Cal., M240, M249 etc.

BTW.. I would never take sounds from movies, video games and say that's what it sounds like in real life.

Why not? Especially in an ambush, or chance contact you want to get rounds down range as fast as possible. As long as you are stable enough, you can walk in your tracers, instead of using the sights.

My favorite: Granatgevär m/48, also known as Carl Gustav AT-rifle, MAAWS, Goose, or what ever. Im not posting any video clip of it because none of the ones available will do it justice. The sound, the concussion wave, the backblast..... you have to experience it for yourselves.

The first time on the range with it, as loader, i felt i lifted off the ground when he fired. A truly impressive weapon. In the early days of UNIFIL, norwegian troops relied on it to finish off some 'battles'/skirmishes. Due to the variety and power of the different types of ammo, it can be used to decisive effect. Hat off to the swedes for coming up with it!

My absolute best has be the GAU-8 mounted in the A-10. Never heard it in person, but that ripping sound as it cuts loose.... DAMN!!!

I mean the WWII 8mm Mauser bad-ass father of the MG-3 and M-60. The original was much scarier than the civilized, contemporary issued MG-3's. The rate of fire was up to 1800 rpm in one variant.
