It seems to be based on the MG3 but using RL Blowback instead of Recoil. Can it also launch grenades since the Muzzle looks like it can use them?

Damn, I live in Switzerland and was in the Army for looong time, but never seen (or heard) of this thing. It's not issued in the Army...

I've got a book by good old Ian Hogg, where he describes this MG.

Here we go:

What info are you looking for, specifically?

I think some were supplied to a few Chilean police forces. Chile has made pretty much most of the SIG lineup under licence for quite some time IIRC.

The 710-3 was also exported to Bolivia and Brunei.

The 710 was developed by SIG at the same time as W+F brought out the MG51. Both weapons took part in the trials for the new GPMG for the swiss army, which were won eventually by the MG51. So far I know the only reason for this was the cheaper price of the MG51.

Still a very interesting weapon. Some of them are still floating around in Switzerland in the hands of collectors.

Thanks for the pics, never seen this before...

Odd thing though is that it doesnt use GP11 the swiss 7.5 round. I would have thought that to be a requisite.
