Would you rather get attacked by a shark, or have someone shooting at you? I'll take some1 shooting, at least I can take cover, maybe go around and sneak behind him, but when you get caught by a shark, that's it, its over for you. :(

You only get attacked by sharks if you are stupid or doing something stupid. They never eat humans on purpose.

Well, for the most part that's true but there are exceptions. Too many incidences of surfers and the like getting their arm nibbled off. I mean, sharks have to eat sometimes, so I'm sure they'll go after humans if they're desperate.

Are you teaching me about sharks?!? I know everything these is to know about them, I'm fascinated yet terrified of them, of course sharks don't intentionaly eat humans, its a mistaken identity.

Yes, I mean...don't surf in shark-waters. ;)
(Or if you do, don't blame the shark.)
Luckely however, there are _very_ few shark-attacks per year, so you shouldn't worry to much. Even though I understand how it is to have a fear (fobia) for something.
Ah, Spider! Honey, help!

I'm going to Florida in 2 months and I'm dying to try surfing, I just can't do it though.
You know what it was?!? That damn Jaws movie, it freaked me out from my childhood. I spent most of my chilhood on beaches, after I saw Jaws, the only water I swam in was the pool.

I remember a couple of years back when I was in Egypt. We stayed out in some small village in Sinai (can't remember the name but supposedly it was the place where Moses divided the Red Sea and led his people across) to swim with dolphins.
50-100 metres out from the beach I put my head under the water and I see something closing in on us.
Seeing that grey shadow closing in on you gently but determined made at least my heart skip a beat or ten.
Man, I was sooo relieved when it got so close that you could see it was a dolphin...

fear of never being able to come home from work and crawl into somes arms who loves me.....
That is a pretty good fear - if you know that is going to happen when you finish an awful taks you can do just about anything!
I do not like being late - even if I will get my ass handed to me once I get there I would rather lose and be on time than win and be late. I'm just weird like that.
Also, I do fear getting in front of a judge or people and not knowing what is going on and this looking like a moron. I think that is why I am alwasy so over-prepared - I just can't stand to think about it.

I really don’t have many fears. But I think sharks are a little scary but two things that I am afraid of are dieing from something like an incurable disease or chemical-biological weapons things like that. The other is say I was to go to war I think snipers are a scary idea, just knowing that someone is hunting you, that would always be in the back of my mind. That’s way I would like to be the sniper I would rather be the hunter not the prey

Well my #1 fear is the living dead....as wierd as it sounds I was really young when I watched the Night of the Living Dead. Being across the road from a graveyard and being 6 years old I considered myself being in "ground zero" if they ever decided to get up and pay a visit. Needless to say I still have the fear today, I've seen a few dead bodies in my day and those dont really bother me but if it "moved" or got up you'd see the white Donovan Bailey streak down the street. Ironically they day after watching the movie I learned to use the shotgun :P

Drowning is one of the most RELAXING deaths. After the air in you lungs is used up, and you instinctively gasp for air, your lungs feel with water, and you become extremeley relaxed and peaceful until you pass out, and thats it.
you know when your going to die, you can be like: I am going to die riiiiiight now.

Actually, not always.
I was in this accident some years ago involving a car and a bicycle.
Both came in to a cross road with app. speed of about 30-35 miles an hour.
My problem was that I was the one riding the bicycle. When I saw the forthcomming collision was unavoidable a million thoughts weant through my head.
The last one I had was; "This is it, now I'm going to die!"
I did not panic, but instead it seemed like I was filled with inner peace as I was about to meet my faith.
Not did I only survive the crash, but I could actually cycle away with a small bruice on my left leg as the only reminder of the accident.
4 hours later did the reaction hit me. I sat in my living room, shaking like crazy....

I don't understand it either. It's totally irrational, and I can't talk myself out of it. I start freaking out without even realizing it. I've tried everything, cause pretty much everyone has to have a shot at some time or other... but it just always sucks. That's why I've put off taking care of my wisdom teeth for so long.
By the way, your dog doesn't give a **** because dogs have fewer nerve endings in their skin than we do... it doesn't hurt nearly as much.

Have em knock you out with a blunt object instead so you don't need anesthesia. ;)

My number one fear is sharp things... Absolutely scare the living crap out of me.
Is that why, you know, he is so dull?
Man I love the internet, insults with impunity!
- uhoh - oh yeah.
Hey I owed from another thread (even if what you posted was true!)

It might hurt a little bit afterwards and mean a little brain cell loss, but hey, at least you won't have to face those damn, dirty needles!

Not sure that you get the impunity part in this case. And besides, it's not really payback since you didn't insult me. ;)

Same as Haiws waking up during the night and finding the guy in Guttorms avatar standing beside my bed naked with a hard on.
you know when your going to die, you can be like: I am going to die riiiiiight now.
Exactly...you know that you're going to die, and you panic, and it's just...ack *shiver*
Yup same here. A couple of years back we were at some high school class introduction (the class had been like that for 2 years, but hey, it's a day without any hard work so who cares) near a lake. Anyway, there were some water activities, and so I was already soaked wet (including my clothes).
So at one point in a lull of activities I got the brilliant idea of swimming to the raft that was floating at the center of the lake. The problem was however, that I had already been swimming for some time (with the wet clothes), and I had had astmatic bronchitus just a while before, so my physical condition was still crap.
I was about 2/3 on the way to the damn raft when I started feeling incredibly tired and I just couldn't really swim any further. So I decided to go back. Problem was; I was already dead tired. So I just struggled back, but when I was still about 30 meters away from the shore I just couldn't go any further. I couldn't shout for help because I was all outta breath. So I was just thinking by myself 'okay then...this is it. I can't make it to the shore and I'm just ****ed. That's it then'. I was just dead calm, I don't understand it either.
But anyway, even though I had pretty much given up already I just struggled on a bit further, and after 5 meters or so (that took about half a minute) I pretty much collapsed...and then I suddenly felt some solid ground under my feet when standing up (I love being 6'3" :D), and I could just pretty much walk to shore.
So long story short; don't be so sure that you'll panic. :)
