What is burning? To my knowledge metal tracks doesn´t catch fire that easily,
so hm? Fuel that has leaked out or what?

Rubber pads on tracks... during WW2 this was a problem too on british tanks... and it seems that this tank is totally burnt... Why no one tried to extingush it???
BTW AFAIK abrams have automatic extingushers...

one hit in to track does the job.

Or maybe it was shot from the bridge above :|

They may have not put the fire out on the M1 because they were receiving enemy fire still. Just a thought.

Man... one guy with a molotov up on one of the bridges could have taken out that Abrams if it was unbuttoned... really bad place to be unless they had air covering the topsides of those bridges.

Even old PG-7 warheads (60's tech) are a real threat against even the M1A2 (and any other MBT) if firing at the flank/top/rear...

To bad the Iraqis aren't so convinced of the invulnerability of the mighty Abrams that some people here are... maybe they'd all go home...

As to why the crew left it burning.. maybe they thought it more important to evacuate injured comrades than save the tank.. I would have.

Looks to me like a M1A1HC...

Oops, I'm wrong... it's an M1A2, looking at the CIWS and the .50 mounting...[/b]
