Shot the Surefire Suppressor, it was very impressive with sound reduction to approximately a good 22 short to a 22LR out doors. almost no recoil and it is very easy to point even with the added weight up front due to the can sitting over part of the barrel instead of just attached to the muzzle.

Have you had the chance to try out Surefires new "shorty" version suppressor? Also whats the POI shift like with Surefire, how does it compare to say Gemtech, OPS inc and other high end suppressors?

Surefire says poi change is 1moa or less...but tightens your groupings by quarter moa.
Thanks for sharing the pics Chen.

We demo'd the Surefire and Gemtech and found the shift to be quite similar between the two. From what we shot the Surefire did seem a hair tighter, and they stand by the shift by giving you a figure to expect (I think they said 1" or less at 100yds). Gemtech's shift is about the same but they won't narrow down the shift figure to a certain measurement. We ended up with the Gemtech's and they aren't bad. One thing I did notice is that the barrel weight helps tighten our groups on full auto (15yds and in) but holding the rifle with it on at the ready without a foregrip to help with the weight distribution gets a little old.
Was it about the same for you SMGLee between the brands you've shot?

What crap are you referring to? Do you mean the load bearing vest? Some folks participate in 3 gun or action shooting matches which require the use of multiple firearms, hence the load out. I'm not certain that is what SMGLee is doing, perhaps he is involved with Mil/LE.

From what I've seen I think he is in the industry, after all he gets to use all these cool systems and he's behind enemy lines.

both systems has excellent performance when it come to POI shift, and the QD is one of the best in the industry.
the shorty can is actually longer then the standard can if you mount it to the muzzle of an 14.5inch barrelled M4. Since the standard model does slip over the barrel and bury part of the barrel within the can itself.
so if you have a carbine, you would want the standard can, but if you are shooting a CQB-R, your only option from Surefire would be the shorty can.
I would compare the Surefire to the Gemtech any day, both are great cans and both company have excellent durability for sustained full auto bursts. along with some of the best sound reduction in the industry.

The POI shift was min. and the accuracy increased by 1/2 MOA. it is all ture about what this can can do. Surefire has done their homework and they have produced a great can.
As far as the Gemtech can, they have been in the business for a long time and they have produced some of the best cans money can buy, I did not like the 96D as much because of carbon build up, you can get that can stuck on your muzzle if you are not careful, but that bi-lok mounting system is the best in the business if you need a quick on and quick off can.
If you have to pick one, i would have a hard time. but by going with GemTech, you definitely ensure your group one of the best this market has to offer.

LOL.... Looking to buy a rail 1911 for x-mas... Springfield MC-Operator is high on that list, also is the Kimber Warrior.
Thanks for sharing the pics, SMGLee! Was Robert K Brown a good shot?
He was so entrunched in the AK system from all his travels and advantures, he has some difficulties working the AR system. but overall, he was a good shot and in great physical condition depsite his age.
One of the true gentleman in the business.

There's a license that lets you purchase suppressors/ automatic rifles etc...
I imagine it to be quite a penny though.

In Texas you can own them. Have to go through the proper people(class III) pay your tax and wait.

You might go to the BATF website and see if state laws are listed, they use to have a book on state laws. Or Maybe your state government has something.
