Hi

I found this MOPP suit in a store and I wanted to know when it was used by the US military.

Hope you can help.

Maybe First Gulf War era? Not sure...

That's the stuff I used the whole time I was in the military, so I'd say most of the 80's and 90's at least.

Those Chem suits are nice and toasty warm. I have a Brit set I use in the bush.

Very warm and dry :D

To be exact, that is the BDO or Battle Dress Overgarment in Woodland camo. (Can be found in US three-color and six-color Desert patterns.)
It began issue in the late 1980's to replace the CPOG or Olive Drab MOPP suit. You should have a factory tag in the "jacket" that has data on factory of origin and manufacture date.
These were first worn in combat during the First (US) Gulf War of 1991 and have since been replaced by the JSLIST overgarment.

Thank you for the info.
Were they still in use in A-stan or Iraq?

The JSLIST suit was used in the 2003 war in Iraq, not the example you have. AFAIK none have been used in Afghanistan.

When I deployed in 2004 and 2006 to Afghanistan I got both of those. Maybe PACAF didn't get the JSLIST in time. If you want to wiat until I deploy in '07, I can let you know, lol.

There were still plenty of BDOs in use in March 2003; the Marines in particular used a lot of them.

I had no idea. My USMC battalion was involved in testing the JSLIST back in 1995 or so.

the jslist is in phased issue...some NG and reserve units still have the bdos...my unit does...but i was lucky enough to get a supply sgt as a squad leader so she hooked me up....and being the NBC nco helps too so either way i was gonna get it along with all the other highspeed chem sh*t...
