Found a video of Kapooka Army Recruit Training Centre on YouTube. Yes I did run a search to see if it was on here yet and the search came up dry. So if anyone's thinking about joining the Australian Army, you should check it out. Sure its a little old, but still worth the watch.

Seems the fitness requirements are pretty much the same as the British Army - press ups, sit ups and a 2.4km run is the same as our Personal Fitness Test.

I wouldnt be that bad on him lol, I did think it was quite suprising considering he is a police officer...I mean he would know more about working in an environment alot more than the other recruits I would think.

Digging this old thread up, as I'm looking for the complete video as Sypher209 mentioned above of the videos from this page:

It's from PrimeNews; does anyone have the complete reel?

Isnt this video from 2004?
I was there when the news teams were filming but they chose the platoon below us to film, bastards, you could tell when the TV crews were there cos it was alot quieter down stairs p-).
We had the same PTI aswell, he was pretty cool, one of the others was a real machine though, he would beat ppl up the ropes only using his hands!

I wasn't aware there was a grueling endurance march at Kapooka, I do recall a couple of short stomps....

Is it just me, or are those pretty pathetic push up scores?

Wait to you get there and see the condition some people show up in.
Old mate had a pretty good run time though, 8.30 odd.

Hmm. Do many people tend to fail that BFA they do when you first get to Singo?

I wouldn't think so. I would have thought that if you could pass a PFA styl test they do at day 1 or 2 at Kapooka, that after three months of recruit training you should be able easily pass a BFA at Singo on day one.

My thoughts exactly. 2mins, and they quoted the girls result smashed the guys? I thought her result should have been the *standard minimum*.

Unfortunately you dont run the army, but i do see your point.
But going against my opinion i think it is good that recruits are given the chance to improve their score during their time in the army, i guess it allows the army to let in those couple who would struggle to become fit on their own.
I only did 36 push ups at Kapooka, but the longer i was is the better i got.
My PB is 58, which is good for me, as i could only do 5 or so when i first thought of joining the army seriously in 03
