Here's a weird one. I'm having trouble with Windows Live Messenger. When I sign in, the little rotating people start their thing, and it tells me that it's signing in. It just hangs at this stage, like it's stuck in a loop.
I have run the connection troubleshooter (tools>options>connection), and it says there is no problem with my connection. In fact, the connection status tells me that I am in fact connected to the service and that everything is fine. This is while the program is saying it is in the process of signing in.
Other avenues I've explored:
I've blocked then excepted Windows Live from Windows Firewall.
Turned off Windows Firewall totally.
Run CCleaner of all temp files, any crap clogging my system.
Scanned for malware, any nasty software, there is none.
Repaired the installation of Live just in case.
Reinstalled Live (three times).
I can sign into MSN Web Messenger, and access my hotmail Email account, so there's no account trouble. My computer is regularly virus scanned every morning with constant updates, there is no virii. I am on a LAN with Internet through a gateway. I have enquired if anything's blocked me there, and nope, nothing is. Every other computer in the house has no trouble with Messenger.
Very occasionally I get an error message almost instantly saying that either the service is not available, or there's a problem with my connection. I run the connection checker, it comes up fine. I check the service status, it says all systems are stable and running.
I am really, really puzzled. Any ideas?
