BTW, Diesel, all you have to do for the language thing is go to Regional and Language Settings in the Control Panel, and you should be able to figure it out from there......assuming you don't have a Mac.

I was just expressing disappointment at not being able to purchase the HK416 for myself. Currently it is not being offered to civilians in the US. The HK416 is an improved M16.


At the time of this writing in June, 2006, the HK416 is still not widely available to other than military and federal law enforcement. This year promises the system to be sold to state and local law enforcement agencies, and it has not yet been decided if that would include individual officer sales.

I seem to remember an issue with Colt, maybe?

thank you for join here , at any rate . in what were your talking about it ,I'd rather know about germany gun facility's decided to sell on it. that wasn't be surprise possible may be , because the HK416 which had invented country and the gun maker who has been producting weapon in there , that is that. but I'd like to notice what is the gun which has accepting from M16 normal rifle's chamber to the HK416 used to be original chamber , what does Chamber has miraclous power ? I can't think what are they has consume when it has shooting after that . how many time does they changes chamber when they've got shoot many times after .

I dunno, I dont think the 416 has a whole lot over the civilian market. Civilians already have access to a number(perhaps 10) different gas piston uppers from everyone like RRA, DS Arms gas trap rifle, ZM weapons, ect ect


My money is on the ZM Weapons LR-300, I'm not a huge fan of rails so...
Light, folding buttstock, reliable and simple. H&K aint the first nor the only name doing this stuff.

The M16 uses a method of operation called "direct Gas implentation". In DGI gasses from the explosion are vented off through a small tube under the handguards into the receiver, where it exits inside the receiver. THis violent expulsion of gasses is how the M16 operates. However these gasses carry with it carbon, heat and dirt. THe result is that the M16 tends to run very "dirty"

The HK416 uses a "Gas Piston", which is what a the AK47 uses. In this method, gas is pulled from the barrel into a tube along the top of the rifle, however inside this tube is a big piston connected to the bolt carrier(the important bits) inside the rifle. This pushes the bolt and when the bolt is pushed back, and the round leaves the barrel...the breach(where the round was) is now open via the ejection port, and the barrel is now empty. So with spring power the piston, pushes all that dirt right back out and the dirt never gets a chance to really settle anywhere.

Gas pistons are colder and cleaner, but can be bulkier. the HK 416 just replaces the M16's method of operation, it does not replace the rifle. Its like changing engines on a car, its still the same car right?
