There are some pretty interesting happenings in Liberia these days. the French Special Forces are evacuating US citizens in light of heavy fighting between rebel forces and the government. I found some pretty cool pics over on Yahoo news, however, you always seem to be able to get the really good high resolution photos, so I figured I'd give you a heads up.

Yeah linking to them in the forums is one thing, but making a new permanent gallery is another. Unfortunately I'm being more concious of copyright issues from these photos sources. Yahoo is probably the least restrictive, and mentions that you can use them for commentary which lets me do the album thing since everyone talks about each picture. Since these other higher res ones come from sources that don't have the commentary clause, I just have to link directly to the originating site through the forums. Better than nothing...


French troops evacuate UN, EU and diplomatic personel, 09 June 2003 from the war-wracked Liberian capital Monrovia on a military Cougar helicopter as continuing battles between rebels and government forces cast a shadow over peace talks in nearby Ghana. People are being flown to the French military vessel "Orage" (Storm) anchored nearby in the Atlantic Ocean off Monrovia.
