Turkey Will Win!!!!
LoL!!!

Now Lets get Serius! Even if France Wanted to Declare War on Turkey it Would have done it under the E.U ombrela and i Suspect that Greece (As the Closest E.U. Nation to Turkey) would have the most of the Job to Do.
But Even if France Decide to go on its own, although the distance it Will Win.
France Has An Aircraft Carrier so it's Fighters can Reach Turkey with no problem. Turkey can not do that to France!
Not to compare the Weapons like
Rafale Vs F-16
Leclerc Vs Leo1
etc

The most important difference is than France manufacture 95% of its weaponry while Turkey is dependant on foreign suppliers. So on the long run, if such thing still exist in modern warfare, France would probably win.

Now it depend how far things would go. I think France would avoid a land invasion, and in mediterranean sea, turkish submarines could easily hide. The smartest thing would be to fight turkey until the last greek

France has one of the strongest, most advanced, and most capable militaries in the world, and while Turkey certainly has a very impressive military, it's just not quite on the same level. Turkey would put up a really good fight though.

In the paper there is no doubt. But you just need one bad general for a disaster, and turks are a dangerous ressourcefull foe.

France could win this war without firing a shot. The French government could simply declare:

1-Independence for Iraqi Kurdistan,
2- All Cyprus belongs to Greece,
3- All Armenians have rights to ancestral homes in Turkey, and
4- Istanbul is renamed Constantinople.

Turkey would have it's hands full.

Basically, I second what chuckster said.

I think that turkey would apply economic pressure since the French don't have oil or natural gas of there own therefore economically France would be screwed military aside. Your advanced military is only as good as the food, water, and oil it has to run on. France has 2/3 but not 3/3 so it would be difficult for France in a drawn out war.

If both nations were gung-ho (or would it be stupid ?) enough to go to war over what is a rather minor issue, then I suppose the possession and use of nuclear weapons would play a role in such a conflict. This would mean the Armenian Genocide would be "proven" by 300+ nuclear warheads to 0, and survivors would then bicker about the existence or non-existence of the Turkish Genocide.

What's the purpose of this kind of thread anyway ? There are enough computer wargames around for like-minded people to play France vs Turkey vs Greece vs Bulgaria vs Russia vs America vs The Federation of Micronesia if they so choose...

Yeah, good idea ! Or try this one : if we pitted US Marines against Foreign Legionnaires or Russian Spetsnaz, who would win ? Was the Mig-15 better than the F-86 Sabre ? Is the M-1 better than the T-90 ? And so on and on and on...

Greetings fella's

People should take NATO into account. Just because both of the countries are members of it, a war on battlefields seems too much unreal. An economical war would be more acceptable. Even tho France's purchashing budget is way too much bigger than Turkey's (x2), there are many French, English, Asian, American etc invests in Turkey. I think this would help Turkey to balance the situation. Hah, do not forget to add that many automobile factories are also located in Turkey.

In every single way, a war between France and Turkey would be stupid and will probably take ages to be ended in a one side's victory.

But it is a fact that in the Turkish Independence War, which is just after WWI, Turkish people defeated France and this resulted as a withdrawn for France.

Turkish Armed Corps are experienced tho, since they are fighting against PKK/Kadek (a Kurdish terrorist organisation) in the northern Iraq, this modern army is not be able to be defeated easily. Especially from over-sea country which does not have a successor power as the US have.

Cleus | Let the peace rule the earth.

Come on, our existence wouldn't be in peril and our Mirv currently target cities of other permanent UNSC members. If we ever release them on Istanbul, the perfidious brits would land in Calais and Bordeaux in the next morning, and steal Moet et Chandon bottle from poor workers mouth.

Just because each countries are Nato members, Nato would be paralyzed over the issue because each of them will be able to veto.

I guess we'd have an army of British exiles more than willing to enlist and fend off that invasion then - if only for a privileged access to Moet & Chandon bottles and regular invitations to "à la fortune du pot" suppers.
