It has always been Russian, Russian engineers were doing all the work, just because it was based in Ukraine doesn't mean it automatically becomes Ukrainian.

Kiev and everything east of it has always been part of Russia anyways.

^^^ from the site
Purpose
The heavy infantry fighting vehicles (HIFV (http://www.morozov.com.ua/eng/body/btmp.php?menu=def2.php)) are intended to carry out tactical operations either as integral part of tank combat formations in close co-operation with battle tanks or to operate on their own. In doing so, the troops can either deliver fire from the vehicle or dismount the vehicle and continue to fight as infantry soldiers. Use of heavy infantry fighting vehicles that feature armament, protection and mobility indentical to those of battle tanks ensures close teamwork of battle tanks and troops on the battlefield, with the combat capabilities of both being optimised. The fire control system (FCS) and armament of the heavy infantry fighting vehicle are equal to those of the up-to-date battle tank in enabling the vehicle crew to efficiently detect and engage armoured fighting vehicles and infantry of the enemy.
The heavy infantry fighting vehicles can be used for carrying out offensive and defensive operations, large-scale tactical operations and operations during local military conflicts as well as peace support operations.

Too much nationalism here.

Russia and Ukraine share a common historical base in Kievan Rus'. To say it was one to the exclusion of the other is ridiculous. It is the predecessor of Russia, Ukraine, and Belorussia equally.

I agree there is too much nationalism. Back, when Kievian Rus was formed, there were no Russians, Belorussians or Ukrainians. They were one Eastern Slavic people. When the mongolian invasions happened, thats when the ancient kingdom was destroyed, and the split between the peoples began.

So everyone, stop being ridiculous and shouting Russia this, or Ukraine that.

Polish maybe? As the Ukraine was under their control
hell no.

i was a topic abo bremer book

Mr Bremer directs withering criticism at Italian, Spanish, Polish and Bulgarian units, collectively described as "useless". Iraqi units were "ineffective, or worse".

But the gravest allegations are levelled at the Ukrainian soldiers sent by David Richmond, Britain's ambassador in Iraq, to rescue coalition staff besieged in Kut.

The unit entered the town but then withdrew in such haste that five British military contractors were left behind among armies of militiamen. Four escaped but one was killed.

Mr Bremer writes: "I found myself pacing my office, speechless with rage at the Ukrainians."

Not exactly Poles, but the Ukrainians themselves.
Here you have a message posted by Sergei a long time ago. It's an excerpt from an Ukrainian soldier's diary, who served in Iraq.

About how the cowardness of one man makes a bad name for the whole brigade.
The next case was not as catastrophic as in the number of bodies but infamous nevertheless. In the 20s of August one of the detachment of the 61 batallion under command of major Mihailuta was supporting the logistics convoy from Babylon to Al Kut. The group consisted of 4 BTR 80, "chaika" and one convoy truck. In our direction moved a quite long Polish convoy. I shall say that the Polish guys run their convoys with relatively weak gun support. Their main battle unit is an open SUV with four gunners and a PKM on the turret. No heavy weaponry. In this part the road to Babylon was winding with lots of dense and large in square palm tree groves. Deep within those palm tree groves hide isolated buildings. Such places you can meet in Iraq very often and therefore they are a perfect place to set up an ambush. And therefore the tail of the Polish convoy got ambush in the standard way. The detonation of a land mine and the following salvos of machine guns and RPGs. The tail SUV engaged giving the possibility for the rest of the convoy to quickly leave the area. It was tough for them. "Dukhis" were shooting at them from 200 meters from the pise-walled building. Our guys have heard the firefight and stood within 300 meters after the next turn in the road. The first polish car appeared from the turn of the road. Seeing us the polish guys were turned to them quickly to get help. But major Mihailuta was not eager to engage into a firefight. He was a typical officer from the generation of officers who were raised not on the tactical exercises and field exercises but on repairing the barracks and drawing the bigboards. In Iraq he occupied one of the headquarters position, he rarely left the headquarters so he was unexperienced at being shot at. He went to Babylon for a cheap electronics shop and there was this sh..... Despite the fact that the entire squad together with Woker (the commander of second squad, who usually commanded the convoy) demanded to help the allies immediately, he acted like a complete piece of sh....For the beginning he tried to contact the headquarters for 5 minutes. He definetely relied that the headquarters will not give orders to engage into a firefight. The polish guys seeing where it leads and that every second is at stake tried to contact their guys. As by usual bad fate there is no radio contact, but he finally reached the headquarters, they gave to his affliction the orders to "go ahead" and help the polish. Then he said: "I **** on your go ahead, you are there and I am here. And I will be responsible for this... "
The battle ended without our support. The polish lost 2 KIAs 2 wounded. Also the local arabs got hurt under the blow of field mine. When we crossed that place we saw how bodies of the dead were carried into a truck. The polish guys showed us a middle finger. This was the usual gesture with which our convoys were met in Babylon. Upon returning to base Woker was crying like a child. And Mihailuta was trying to be a boss on me that I don't properly salute him. A **** in his mouth not a salute my ass....

No: "Chajka" is the nick-name for the R-145BM, a command version of the BTR-60. In the West, this vehicle is often known as BTR-60PU.

It's not about liking Ukraine is about being correct. The Mirya is a Soviet Plane. Maybe it was left to Ukraine, but never the less it's a Soviet plane.

The fact Volga Dnipr is teh only company to operate it doesn't mean you should boast it's Ukrainian origin.

It seems that the designers still have a lot to learn about certain human engineering features desirable in a modern IFV. The current western trend is to provide individual seats with seatbelts for the squad, and have them suspended from the roof to minimise injuries to the spine if the vehicle hits a mine.

It is a first testing prototype after all, It has enought room to place anything you want... But the main thing it always has - an MBT level of protection.

Looking at the pictures earlier of all the MBT's that the Ukrainians use, it seems like they really go out of their way to use tons of extra armor/plating...
Do they manufacture them like that or is the plating added after the vehicle rolls out of the factory?

OK, more preciesly...
1 It is to resduce the IR and RADIO signature of the tank.
2 It is to impprove it's survival - a 3 tonn advanced "NOZ" ERA is add-on.
3 not mentioning a new autoloder and such systems as advanced fire supression system.. new rounds and so on.....

In this case it's the launch vehicle SPU-143 with the reconnaissance UAV Tu-143. The SPU-35V for the anti-ship missile 3M44 is indeed very similar.

And this is
KRAZ 6322 GRAD
http://autokraz.com.ua/gallery/grad3.jpg

Does this thing have a name? The Belorussians gave their upgaraded Grads a new name (BM-21A "Belgrad") so I presume the Ukrainians did the same.

I wonder, how good is "Oplot" comparing with others of his old family - from modernised T72s, T80,84,90, that's including all variants-russian, serbian, polish, chineese. Any significant differences and strenghts?

Yep, that is what I tried to ask. Sure they can make new models and show them in various arms exhibitions but I wanted to ask if they actualy produce them in large numbers for Ukrainian or any other army...

30% of former Soviet Union military industry was placed in Ukraine. They used to manufacture some realy advanced weapons not just small arms.

Not T-70 but T-72
Ye, T-64 "Bulat" is a very good tank, but it's a pity that your Army hasn't enough money to modernize all your T-64 into "Bulat" version.

1) Only a part of the 320 delivered tanks came out of existing stocks.
2) Even in Soviet times, Kharkiv/Kharkov was a Ukrainian city, right?
