Ceasefire end looms in Fallujah
From correspondents in Baghdad
April 12, 2004
FALLUJAH rebel leaders today gave US marine snipers a 1200 GMT (10pm AEST) ultimatum to leave the besieged town or face a renewed all-out offensive, a journalist who attended a meeting of insurgents said.

"If by 4pm (local time) all American snipers do not leave Fallujah and surrounding areas, we will start an all-out offensive today," a cleric told reporters after a meeting of religious leaders and insurgents in the town.
Shouldn't they be negotiating? Not issueing demands?

The snipers must be hurting them or they would not ask that they leave.

Why dont the Marines move in with all the armor, and end this bull****.

because that will only increase support for the insurgents and lessen support for the coalition.

Falluja is ALREADY as supportive of the scum as it can get.

The Marines should be allowed to flatten that town instead of being told to cease fire while the enemy regroup behind hospitals and schools.

Otherwise they are playing into the hands of insurgents.

As for the civilians caught in the cross fire - they should have got the message to get out of the way by now.

Leave the "winning hearts & minds" bit to the politians and give the Marines more Ammunition.

Wow, interesting that a rebel leader of Fallujah made a specific request for USMC snipers to leave the area......they really must be hurting them..

I say let the men left inside fallujah bring it on.... Already most of the women have left and the Marines have given ample time for the innocent to flee the city... Its time the rebels of Fallujah were dealt with by an all out combined arms assault. Take no prisoners and kill everything with two legs or less. hehehehe...... Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out.....

If the Marines just waltz in with armor and strike aircraft and level the town, support will take a drastic nosedive all across Iraq.

Hence, why it hasn't been done already.

Well. We could tell them that the Marines had to destroy the city (and every living thing within it) in order to save it !

they are some of the best snipers in the world. so i hope they are doing a great job. there is no way they are gonna leave which is the funny thing. these insurgents must not be very good at negotiations.

Damn right. My cousin is a sniper in his Recon platoon over in Fallujah. He called my aunt the other day to check in, he is fine by the way, but he lost a close buddy. - R.I.P.

:(

Also, to anyone who thinks of asking me how many kills he has... don't. I wouldn't even ask him that.

This tactic of using snipers seemed to work well in Basra (according to the press that is), so good luck out there. It looks like a target rich environment from the video on the news!

On the issue of ambushing the convoys, i reckon it must work something like this;
A convoy of whatever goods/vehicles leaves a depot/base, a local then assertaines where it's heading, probably once it gets onto a long highway, then calls ahead and the terrorists get in place. Let's face it, trucks don't burn when hit with rifle and mg fire, mainly when hit with RPGs, and a few of them at that, so you'd need a few guys well hidden in the right place to pull that off, so a lot of preparation must go into it.

Your thoughts pls...
