Albanians prevent Serbs from visiting cemetary

LEŠTANE -- Albanians used cars and tree trunks to block the road used by Serbs visiting the graves of their loved ones.
The Kosovo coordinating center has announced that the Serbs intended to visit the cemetery near Leštane, Kosovo, when Albanians stopped them barricading the road.
“After one of the buses stopped, one of the extremists drove a tractor into it, frontally hitting the bus”, the statement reads.
The statement also says that the police subsequently arrested the tractor driver.
“Several dozen Albanians gathered immediately, and assaulted the police and the Serbs in the bus, so the police decided to set the extremist free, and he then joined other extremists, continuing to attack the bus. The driver managed to turn the vehicle around and leave the site, so no one sustained injuries”.
Today’s religious holiday, Zadušnice, is marked in the Serbian Orthodox Church calendar as the day dedicated to the memory of the dead, when families visit the graves of their loved ones.

Source is B92 as mentioned. I don't make up this stuff. Beside this latest incident the families were lucky to have their loved one's graves standing since a favourite "tactic" of the Albanians is kicking over tombstones and scratching them out, along with burning monasteries and desecrating and stealing centuries old artifacts and icons.

The easiest way to voice your nonchalance, Ezekiel, is to stay away from threads like this, which are obviously about the Balkans. I've seen you express this view in at least two other threads, and, really, you couldn't be more irrelevant if you tried. So, kindly, step off.

Exactly, these kind of events are used in order to demonize a whole people. There´s nothing wrong with your average albanian, why make such a big fuss about some ignorant individuals?
There are some real issues in the Balkans when it comes down to situations like these. People just love to hate over there, learn to respect your neighbours.

Yes.
It's short-sighted to fall into the trap of simply dismissing the Balkans and its people, just saying that they are all barbarians and can't escape killing each other over something or the other.
There are large, overwhelming political, social, religious, societal, etc. issues which have formed cleavages amongst the groups that have lead to misunderstandings and conflicts. There is no need to go for the easy "they're crazy" answer.

As for a "few, extremist individuals" What happened in 2004? Was that a "few"?
Oh, wow, Chinoeye, a dissacred tomb! Well, I guess that is enough to justify the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo (and Bosnia, and Croatia)...
Serbs (orthodox) kill thousands: its war, ya know?
Kosovars (muslims) kill hundreds/riot/whatever: ah, those ****in muslim savages.
For me they are all a bunch of savages (all stands for serbs, kosovars, bosnians, croatians, montenigrinos,...): the only method for keeping them from killing each other was Tito.

Before you write, just think one moment! That happened in Suva Reka, so it's normal that the Albanians hate the serbs and assaulted them!
-------------------------------------------
THE HAGUE -- One of the three survivors from the massacre in a Suva Reka café testified at the trial of the six former Serbian officials.
On 26 March 1999, more than 40 members of the Berisha family were killed there. Only two women and a child survived the massacre in Suva Reka on 26 March 1999. One of them, Shyhrete Berisha, testified today at the trial of the six former Serbian officials charged with crimes in Kosovo.
The prosecution tendered into evidence a chart depicting the family tree of the witness, on which the names of 44 members of the Berisha family who had been killed were marked. Among them were fourteen children, three babies and fourteen women, including one who was nine months pregnant.
The house of the Berisha family was surrounded by armed and uniformed men who had run out of the nearby police station. It was on 26 march 1999. Six men were killed right there in the courtyard. Nexhat, the witness's husband, was among them. A police officer she knew as Miskovic ordered Nexhat to raise his hands and immediately shot him to death.
The other family members tried to flee, but they were stopped in front of a café near their house. The police forced some forty members of the Berisha family into the café. The witness, her two daughters – 16-year-old Majlinda and 14-year-old Herolinda, her two sons – 11-year-old Altin and Radon, a baby not yet two – were among them. The police then opened fire from automatic rifles and threw two hand grenades into the café. The witness estimates the shooting lasted 20 to 30 minutes.
The witness was wounded in her abdomen, shoulder, leg and back. She played dead, because the police fired at everyone that moved, as she recounted. Her son Altin was alive too, but the police noticed that and killed him before throwing his body together with the others into a truck.
Two other survivors were in the truck. All three of them jumped off somewhere on the Suva Reka-Prizren road. Local Albanians took them into the woods. A month later, they fled to Albania.
Since Berisha identified the killers as police officers, only the defense counsel of the police general Sreten Lukic cross-examined her. The defense counsel put it to her that the massacre in Suva Reka was in fact an act of revenge on the part of Milorad Miško Nisavić, wrongly identified by the witness as Misković. The reason for the revenge was because the OSCE mission had moved their office from his hotel to the ground floor of the Berisha family home, and he could no longer collect rent. The witness replied she was unaware of any conflict between the Berisha family and "the man Misković", advising the defense counsel not to question her about the motives for the crime, but the perpetrators.
Hotel owner Miško Nisavić was an agent of the Serbian State Security Service for the Prizren area. He has been indicted for the crime in Suva Reka together with seven other high-ranking police officers before the War Crimes Chamber in Belgrade.

This will probably happen,Serbian north Kosovo want`s indepndance from indpendant Kosovo (very ironic),before the war only 1/3 of Kosovo Serb population lived in the Serb north, today the situation is that 65-68.000 out 100-120.000 Kosovo Serbs lives in the north, they are well armed so they can protect themselfes.I understand both Albanians and Serbs,Serbia was never a state for Kosovo Albanians and now the future Kosovo state will not be seen as state for Kosovo Serbs,Albanians can forget north parts of Kosovo, it`s lost in the long run and also south Serbia because Serbia will build a highway towards Skoplje in Macedonia that will bypass Kosovo rout, unfortunatly for Kosovo a lot of Kosovo economy is depence on Serbia so this is a problem that future Kosovo leaders needs to delt with,i wish them luck.

I see you are well informed.
250 000 Serbs are etnicly clensed in Croatia.
What Serbs wanted in Kraina Croatia is what Albanians want in Serbian Kosovo.
And what happend?
Croatia backed up by international community attacked UN protected Krajina and etnicly clensed Croatia of Serbs.
Bosnia?
Civil war, and yes Srebrenica happend, but you do not accept that both Croats and mislims did clensings too?
Kosovo ethnicly cleared not by the Serbs, but from the Serbs.
And it's not one tomb, but hundreds of them, as well as villages, churches....and all that under the UN Protectorate!
So you justify that because Serbs killed 250 000 Albanians(BS by Klinton)?
So it's their turn now?
And what will we do than when it's our turn again?
Kosovars, what's that?
Kosovo is not a republic or a state to be independent, but province, region within Serbia.
International community DID NOT ALLOWED any new borders, exept inter-Yugoslav republic borders.
They did not gave that right to both Serbs and Croats in Bosnia, and Serbs in Croatia, why would they give that right to Albanians in Kosovo?

Maybe, but i`m not convinced that if Serbia gets north Kosovo that Kosovo Albanians will get Bujanovac and Preshevo,as you may know,Serbia invested a lot of money in this municipalities from 2002-2006,many Albanians found jobs in Serbian police and local authoroties, and not to mention that in Bujanovac and Preshevo have more Serbs than Albanians in North Kosovo (35% of Serbs in Bujanovac) and plans to build a highway through them,it seems that Serbia because of political reasons will not use Kosovo route for a long time,Kosovo has good position but Serbia is a key to any Kosovo economic recovery and Serbs very well know that,Kosovo can turn to Albania or Montenegro but they are all badly connected, bad roads and mountains, such thing is very expensive for Kosovo. But there can be positive changes in the future,we will see.

would it be acceptable to have Kosovo become independant frrom Serbia, and Serb-populated Northern Kosovo independant from Kosovo and remaining in Jugoslavia?

We'll these cases are completely different, and have nothing to do with each other, Russia is playing the same game, and saying that its scared of its smaller republics to braek away, because they are the same. But the fact is that every case is unique and even though some might say but if this happen than this has to happen, its bs, because there is nothing in common between Rep Serpska or whatever you call it and Kosova.
I'm not saying it has to happen, I'm asking what is going to stop them from doing it?

I would have to say no ... if you're going to start handing out land as a reward for bullying other people then what's to stop the Bosnian Serbs from doing the same thing?
You are apsolutley right.
The only argument Albanians use are their pupulation.
Kosovo did have status of autonomy under the Tito's communist regime.
He ONLY DIVADED SERBIA!
HE Created Republic of MACEDONIA from old SOUTHERN Serbia, and devided SERBIA in 3, while some Republic had more reason to have autonomies(like Istria, Slavonia or Dalmatia in Croatia).
Kosovo, as well as bigger region of Balkans, was also part of Ottoman Empire and part of Greater Nazi Albania during the ww2.
Kosovo was never, I repeat-NEVER part of any other country, exept in above listed cases.
Kosovo was always integral or as a matter a fact, heart of Serbian nation and state.
It's hard for Jojosh, not just to accept historical facts, but also to see the reality of 1990's wars.
Also, if you are Bosniak, as a Slav, you should now what Kosovo means, and that Kosova does not mean anything.
Or you just kiss "their" azz?
I have already explained what happend to Serbs in Krajina, and ethnic map of former Yugoslavia clearly shows where where Serbs majority.
So all his claims about Republila Srpska are ofcourse BS!
Serbs where not allowed to have Krajina and Srpska evene before the war started! And is it extra argument 1 million Serbs killed during the ww2 by Croats and Muslims?
If they are just 1% realistic and have same standards for others, as they have for them selfs, they will say-Hey we are majority in one part of Serbia called Kosovo and Metohija, and we deserve independence.
So for the same reasons we support Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia to separate from those republics.
Now then you'll be nation with balls.
Croatia was allowed to crush Repubilka Srpska Krajina and force out more than 250 000 Serbs!
Serbs and Croats in Bosnia where forced(Serbs bombed) to stay within Bosnia and Hercegovina.
When Serbia did what Croats did, not just that we where backed up by the USA and NATO, but opposite-we where bombed by NATO.
And now people are wondering why do Serbs belive in anti-Serbian conspiracy?!?!
And now after all, we accepted those rules of the game, where REPUBLICS borders are HOLY and UNTOUCHABLE, and now that rule is going to be changed again to hurt Serbian national interests.
Now we do not talk about all those Serbs and territories outsied of Serbias Republic Borders, but about Serbian internal borders-heart of Serbia-Serbian Province of Kosovo, who BTW is now populated with lot's of Albanians.
So what?
Borders, specially in the Balkans are not following national structure, and Albanians are only who do not whant to accept that!
THey want to Albanians states one next to another.
And anyone who does independent research on this subject will come to one conclusion- Giving Independece to Serbian Province of Kosovo will be aganst international laws, against history, moral and everything what was dome by the international community.
There is no doubt that desition will cause chain reaction, not just in Macedonia and Montenegro where Albanians already did cause some problems(including armed uprise in Macedonia), but as well in Bosnia and Hercegovina and all over the world!!!
We all hope to be part of the EU one day, so borders are not important, a side from international laws principals.
What are we offering?
Everything, maximum autonomy with only fiew limitations-NO ARMY and UN SEAT for Kosovo Autonomy.
But other side blindly whants only full independence!

LOL.
Prove it!
And is it extra argument 1 million Serbs killed during the ww2 by Croats and Muslims?
By Muslims? How many Muslims where in Ustasa? And how many Muslims where in Domobrani? And dont play on SS Handzar card.Instead go read :
George Lepre - Himmler's Bosnian Division: The Waffen-Ss Handschar Division 1943-1945
or Zija Sulejmanpasics :13 SS Divizija Istine i Lazi
And in what year did Chetniks started slaughtering Bosniaks in Eastern Bosnia and in Sandjak?
Croatia was allowed to crush Repubilka Srpska Krajina and force out more than 250 000 Serbs!
As memory serves my right those same Serbs started armed rebellion without any real reason. They where not being oppresed and they wherent living in autonomous republic. They just grabed as much territory as they could and proclaimed autonomy by force.
Serbs and Croats in Bosnia where forced(Serbs bombed) to stay within Bosnia and Hercegovina.
Not true about Croats. They where willing partners. And Serbs where bombed with good reason. Some market massacres comes in mind.
When Serbia did what Croats did, not just that we where backed up by the USA and NATO, but opposite-we where bombed by NATO.
Croatia liberated part of its territory occupied by rebels.Serbia ethnicly cleansed minority that was allready oppresed and living in province where they where majority for hundreds of years.
In principle I would agree that Kosovo stays in Serbia (although with much wider autonmy and stronger and independet local goverment) but knowing that Serbia hasnt yet cured and cleansed itself from dream that is Greater Serbia and given historical oppresion Albanians suffered from Serb hands I must say that they are better off having independence. They deserved it.

JOjosh, Serbs did not have a reason to be upset in Croatia?
In Croatia(1990), 581,663 people declared themselves Serbs in the census of 1991.
Serbs became opposed to the regime of Tuđman because of his desire for an independent Croatia and changing the constitution.
To be more specific, he proclamed Serbs for 2nd class citizens, since accroding to the new Independent Croatia COnstitution, Croatia became a state of Croats and not equaly of all it's citizens!
In August 1990, a referendum was held in the Krajina on the question of Serb "sovereignty and autonomy" in Croatia. The resolution was confined exclusively to Serbs and, not surprisingly, passed by a majority of 99.7%, showing they were unable to accept an independent Croatia. Equally unsurprisingly, it was declared illegal and invalid by the Croatian government, given the fact that Serbs had no constitutional right to break off of Croatian territory.(NOW you CAN SEE HERE CLEAR ANALOGY BETWEEN KRAJINA AND KOSOVO!)

1. RS population was not 80% non-serb before the war. Look at the map on page four. Banja Luka was a city of 200,000 SERBS before the war. That in itself would account for 15% of the RS population not including Brcko, Bjeljina, Trebinje, Srebrenica, Prijedor, Gradiska....
2. Kosovo is a historic constant first as the orthodox's version of the vatican, then as a military district within the ottoman empire, and finally as a part of Serbia again in 1912-13. Its interesting to note that Krajina and Slavonia and Srem, backa, and banat (vojvodina) were all military districts of the Hapsburgs and Hungarian designs, but when Serbs attempted to resurrect these geographic units and turn them into political units, the west shat itself.
3. Kosovo has always been some kind of geographic area, but not until the yugoslav constitution of 1974 was it turned into a political area. This was done because of violent demonstrations, murder, and kidnappings. Therefore also a product of war.
4. YES...we can hardly wait you piece of govno.

For those of you who don't speak serbo-croatian, the was the first autonomous region of Serbia that gained some aspect of independance after the 2nd serbian uprising in 1815. It encompassed everything east of the drina to the bularian border, everything south of the sava/danube rivers all the way to kragujevac.
