According to Wikipedia, it did:
Flight 15P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceShipOne_flight_15P) on June 21 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_21), 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), was SpaceShipOne's first spaceflight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaceflight), and the first privately funded human spaceflight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_spaceflight). Ansari X Prize (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansari_X_Prize) flights followed, with flight 17P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceShipOne_flight_17P) on October 4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_4), 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), winning the prize.

The port cockpit housed the pilot, starboard housed the co-pilot/navigator. The pilot had a full set of controls, but the co-pilot only had sufficient controls for basic operation of the aircraft.

Very strange aircraft, but it is true!
It is infact a complete different design to the P-51H Mustang, however it just incorporated the P-51H fuselage.
It was a close escort for B-29 which was going to be introduced during the invasion of Japan, however that never materialized so the whole project was scrapped.
Later night fighter versions only had the cockpit on the left side.

The P-82 saw service! Both as day and as night fighter!
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher1/p82_10.html
And the night fighters had both cockpits. One for the pilot and one for the radar operator.

@ FW200: A couple of facts about the aircraft you posted.
Fokker were considering a bomber version of the G1, and in fact a full scale bomber nose mock-up was built on an unfinished airframe still in the assembly shop. G1s had also been ordered by the Spanish republican givt., but retained in the Netherlands and eventually used in combat in 1940. Later (in 1942) two senior Fokker test pilots escaped to england in one such aircraft.
As for the D23, Fokker toyed with the idea of using RR Merlin or DB-601 engines to attain higher performance.

Nasa and Lockheed studied cargo aircraft concepts durings the 80's.
Some were flying boats, one was something like a "C-5Z" (Z for Zwilling/twin, He-111Z, Me-109Z), another one like a C-141 but with canards and large winglets and this open cargo aircraft.

1. Description of Flying Vehicles "EKIP"
In the Closed-Stock Company "Aviation Concern "EKIP" the specialists of aviation and space-rocket branches of industry guided by professor L. N. Schukin developed the fundamentals of principally new type of flying vehicles "EKIP".
The "EKIP" aircrafts can carry heavy large-scale loads (100 and more tons) at long distances (thousands of kilometers) at a speed of 500-700 km/h at the altitude of 8-13 km. These flying vehicles can move near the surface of ground or water using the air cushion at a speed up to 160 km/h and glide at a speed up to 400 km/h as a "screen-plane".
The flying vehicles "EKIP" do not require an airfield. They can land on airfields of any category, including ground and water surfaces. The length of the runway for heavy vehicles (several hundred tons) does not exceed 600 meters, take-off and landing are performed at steep descent trajectory, which decreases the level of noise affecting the vicinity.

Anybody knows what's thisThe aircraft is the Mikoyan 701 which was proposed as next-generation intercepter to supplement the MiG-31 and replace the older Yak-28, MiG-25, and Tu-128 intercepters. The little know project was talked about in the mid-90's, but soon disappeared from aviation world in the late 90's or early 2000's which means it was canceled during that period.
