Congress knew when they exempted political cold calls from the DO NOT
CALL legislation that abuse was bound to happen.

Was this exemption a drive to get more people voting or simply regonition that Rove-style push-polling and direct mail was working with the Republican base?

Just for the record, I've received twice as many calls from Democrats
as Republicans. Then again, I'm in a predominantly Democrat controlled
(Cleveland) metro area. Kucinich called twice, Brown twice and
Blackwell once (or some entity on their behalf).
It has nothing to do with getting out the vote else the message would
be simply - vote. It's essentially commercials, the same ones you ignore
ala remote, played over your phone. It really pisses me off when I get
these calls.

I assume there will be five or six on my machine when I get home and at least four more from then on. I don't know how many determine their vote by the ads or calls. But if you take them at their face-value sound bites, you should not vote at all. I hope you all are voting at least once.

I had 5 on my machine when I came home and at least 3 every day last week. The Do Not Call is a freaking farce. The idiots I dont' want calling are still allowed to call.

Maybe I misunderstood the do-not-call list, but doesn't it only make it illegal for telemarketers to call? I can't recall political calls being excluded.

if they wont stop the telemarketers, why would they go after politictions.
of course, if i remeber correctly, the do not call list does not affect politictions, they are on the exemption list, like the city you live in is so they can call and tell you that garbage will be delayed a day and what not.
