Demo **** went to jail for using goverment funds for private use

and if Demo **** the "Sharkman" was as HOT as he thought he was
OBL would be in the ground and the Iraq war would be over

No I'm not a fan
My beef with **** is he always takes everything one step past where he should have stopped

my 2 cents

His books also slandered many people. He said many false things about some good officers.

He used his books for revenge against people he did not like.

He is a POS. A bully, nothing else.

he for the most part created seal team six, I definatley think he is a bad ass and if you saw him out in a bar i would bet a penny you would not say otherwise. I just think he might not be the nicest guy you meet but I would still want him on my side when the **** hit the fan.

If what Marcinko says in his book is true then he might not be a bad boss to work for. i. e. His boys getting all the goody goody toys plus being protected by all BS that the top echelon throws at them.

At the end of "Rogue Warrior", he said that he was imprisoned for counts of conspiracy, and something about funding, as mentioned before. I'm assuming that he did a lot of the writing in prison, which is probably why some of the parts are so negative.

But isn't the guy like 60 some years old? And I'm pretty sure he's made too much noise to still be in the Navy. But I still want to buy his Red Cell video, just to see the authenticity of some of the exercises, which seemed pretty intense in the book.

what who needs personal experience when you can read a book that certainly NOOOO liberties would be taken in....

besides my aunt's only sister's only son told me all about it - whaaa?

I mean - I could tell you about it but the records are classified - my dd214 is only a 1-800 number on a post-it-note signed by the SECDEF. - oops dd214 - I mean I was the only soldier to go right from AMRY basic to be a SEAL - yeah yeah and that's why the Navy has no record. yeah thats the ticket.

****'s "fictional" books suck ass. Or are they so real that they could only be told as fiction?

I have the Red Cell video. I got it from Paladin Press, it was not really much though, better buy the ones being sold by History or Discovery Channel with Navy SEALs as there subject. It would be much more informative

Now I do know his right hand man Snake(D.C) and he is a great guy and worked with **** for many years. His first hand accounts are the only thing I can go by and in my opinion if he is good enough for Snake then he is G2G in my book. I dont get into all the politics and jealousy's between certain members of the TEAMs just personal experiences.

Hey, just wondering... what are the turnover rates of first term SEAL's I remember seeing a couple going through SS school at Camp Horno. I'd imagine (totally guessing here) that most? do a 6 year contract because of the length of the training... Just curious.

What!! no rap-star east coast v/s west coast rivalry in FR?

Obviously, by my sarcasm & and lack of previous posts; I do not know him. I can only say what others have told me, and they are subject to their own prejudices. If even half of what it said is true then he should earn the respect of most military men if for deed alone.

I agree with whoever said he takes things "one step too far". He's a legend in his own mind. He can kill any man he opposes (not hardly) and never slips up (impossible). A boss like that would get you killed and then write a book about it. The SEALs that I have ask about him all disliked him immensely. It's just not the image that they wanted to portray. No, I don't think any of us would want to meet him in an alley but he's not immortal or infallible. If you think that's what you are, you won't last long!

I wonder if any of those SEALs have ever served under Marcinko though. Working with or under someone for months or years will often give you a different opinion of the man than just hearing secondhand accounts. His service record and the way he is while he's still a SEAL is what counts, not what people think of him because of his books (most of which are being sold as fiction anyway).

I don't know squat but I reckon he's pretty good back in the day. Former CO of SEAL Team Two, first CO of SEAL Team Six. I reckon those are positions not just given out to any SEAL.

As far as lasting long is concerned, he must be feeling pretty good because he was born in 1940 which makes him 64 years old this year. ;)

Patches Watson, and other former SEALs thought the world of Markinko in Vietnam.. As for ****'s run at ST6, people like Gormley, and other tryouts thought that he was a plain a-hole.

Unfortunately, it's the last impression not the first that usually follows you around in this field. With that said, people usually say the same things that you guys are, "he WAS good but now...? The SEAL's that I talked to didn't like him because of the books mainly. When someone writes a book about what you do, then generalizes as if it's pretty much group wide that that's how things are done, and it's all really BS, you're gonna be the black sheep and probably be hated as well.

Yeah well he stepped on too many toes. He was very effective in Vietnam. Like Beckwith, everyone had grudges against him and he was famous for it. Yeah he did time for 'misapropriation of funds' and crap like that. Not saying he didn't do it, but I don't worry about it. The Navy had it out for him and that's another reason they probably wouldn't let him hunt OBL. The Navy wastes a lot more money every year, which goes for anything else bureaucratic.

I don't think he's in debt to his lawyer anymore, either. The books he's sold including the fictional series and the tactical training center he owns and operates should have covered that by now.
