If that is possible without too many collateral damage, then why not

US captured Sadam, all was suppose to be ok after that, and its not. What makes anyone think that if US captures him that it'll be ok as well. The problem with muslim extrememeists is that there is always someone there to step up and take the spot.

I wonder what this is gonna do for his militia? An all-out assault on US forces?

More like returning to their former lives as petty thieves and carjackers.

By capturing clerics and attacking mosques, US is playing into the hands of the extremeists which argue to th masses that the US is attacking Islam. No matter how justified US to attack the mosque, it is playing into the hands of the extremeists. Its easy to see for Iraqis and other muslisms can view the US as staging an attack on islam.
But if you don't do anything then your seen as being ineffective and weak, but you do something it only causes more hatred and resentment.

double edged sword. :|

Didn't I make a bet with a guy here last week who betted his house and car that the US would have killed al-Sadr by today? :)

So when can I move in? woot

And I doubt the US will really kill al-Sadr, and if they do Iraq will definitely become like Israel & Palestinian ...

Why? Al-Sadr tried to topple Ayatollah Sistani but lost. He is history.
