I know that their are musicians slumping around mp.net, so my question is, have you ever played on stage? If you have..How have you gotten over the nervousness of it all?

Im a guitar/bass player and a little drums and have been playing guitar/bass for 3 years and drums for..much less then a ayear (just started). I cant seem tp be bale to play right when I am preforming for others...

It really bothers me that others can do it with ease...and im a better guitarist then them. So share your confidence secrets with me...

I'm no musician but i am an actor. And... what i would suggest is creating a fourth wall. In acting it is essential to have a Fourth wall so you don't get distracted. This may help you. Basically just create fourth wall that goes over the front of the stage... Instead of thinking that you're performing on stage, think that you are performing in a Sound booth or where you and your band Jam.

Practice. I remembered playing solo for over 1,000 people, my knee was literally kicking.

I practice a till I cant practice anymore and i still manage to mess somthing up, i dont think practice is the issue. I've acctually improved allot without lessons...

A friend of mine in college was in a band and was pretty good at his first gig he was so nervous and got the knee shacking. He was told either relax before or just go crazy before you go out. Shame ive lost contact with him :( think he moved.

Ive wanted to learn how to play the guitar from about 4 years ago but i dont know where to start like good makes of guitars etc... Hopefully going to teach myself if i get in the Army.

The best thing I can think of for you is to start small, perform first for family, then friends.

The best thing I can think of for large audiences is to have confidence. Psyche yourself up before you go out there. If you look confident, even when you make mistakes, people won't mind, as long as you've practiced enough to be good at what you're doing.

I'm always nervous on stage. Just play through it.

I'm always nervous on stage. Just play through it.

The problem is that it inhibits my preformance, peoples knees buckle and such but my problem is that my fingers become jumpy to the fret and sometimes i will hit the note flat or sharp...and we all know that sounds pretty bad...I have very good dexterity...its just the nervousness makes playing through it impossible...or damn near it without screw ups
