OK this was posted somewhere in general but I think that it belongs rather to pics and video so I decidet to pate it here... feell fer also to add other amphibious ships of your countries..

Polish 767 Class Landing Ship

Leased freight ship are fine for carrying supplies, but they are not amphib assault ships.

Even so, you still need a large surface fleet to protect those troop transports and to deliver shore bombardment to prep the landing area for the amphibious assault.
Well you can have transport and shore bombardment in one :-)
http://www.mw.mil.pl/Desant2.jpg
http://www.mw.mil.pl/Desant1.jpg
It can be clasified as LST, 9 MBT (or a lot more IFV) + infanty on each ship and we have 5 of them
Also it is capable to "prepare" beach before landing (see pic No2.)
and for self defence, close support 4 ZSU-23 MR and 8 Striela 2M launchers
(BTW it is not some old crap -15 years old is the oldest one)
There is room for 135 Soldiers with equipment under the deck so basicaly Polish fleet is capable to deliver over 650 soliders supported with 45 MBT at once using only this class ships and we have more landing ships of other types...

What is interesting in this type is option to connect them at high sea so you can move equipment (even tanks) from one to another on open sea or i.e. land one on the beach ant then conect other ones to the end and create pier (480m long) and i.e. move equipment from bigger ships that cannot come so close to beach, without having a port (like it was on D-day)

joke... but there is plan for new large troop carier build in polish shipyard since we have good tradition with building of transport/landing ships and i.e in past we sold a lot of them to other countries (i.e. Soviet union)

No it is called "extedned charge" and is used to breach thru minefields razor wires, obstacles on beach and generally to create hell on earth on narrow but long patch so when you have mined beach and water, this ship can prepare way for itself without deminig by other ships and also you can use it to atack coastal defences etc.... each ship has 9 one shot launchers (can be reloaded at base or resuply ship)
BTW we have also those cool baseball caps now (ripped off US idea :-) )

It was true up until about 1991 or something like that when Finland decided
that there was no such rules anymore (basically because there was no Soviet
Union left). During the cold war Soviet Union actually didn´t care about the rules
of the peace treaty in 1948, because they considered the Finns as usefull cannon
fodder probably, that could be forced to be "allies" and then be a buffert against
a possible NATO invasion from the north. In example the Finnish army after
mobilization was about 500.000 strong, according to the peace treaty it was
supposed to be about 35.000. But the Russians didn´t only give a **** about
this, they even provided most of the heavy weapons to those 500.000.

Swedish Stridsbåt 90 (Combat boat, fast amphibious assault boat):

Why you removed this SAR boat??? i just wanted to ask question about it...
So basicaly sweden has small tactical transport ships??? or you can transport some heavier stuff like tanks too?

BTW nice camo blends very well(except flag ;-) )

Well that SAR-boat. I checked it up, the organization for maritime SAR in Sweden,
2000 they borrowed three Strb 90H, and in 2002 they got 7 Strb 90E. I think
the difference is that H is the "big" one that transport assault troops, the "H"
obviusly stands for "half platoon". And the 90E is a smaller one. There is also
90HS in use, that are armoured. And 90L that is a command version. Obviously
there is also (ex-military) 90 Polis. But no, the Swedish navy doesn´t have the
capacity to transport heavy shiat as tanks really.

This is a smaller version, honestly I don´t know what this is, maybe
a heavily modified Strb 90E

In military use it´s main role in the amphibious regiments would be to transport
troops and material. And take islands held by the enemy:

http://www.algonet.se/~kjv/bilder/landstig.jpg
... like in this old embarassing photo, who the fokk assaults with a beret
on his head?

Some new project of a new combat boat, obviously a bit larger than the
one in service today, can be used as a platform for the AMOS mortar turret
in example

Slightly related.

Swedish and Finnish coastal jaegers on a combined exercise
in Finland last year, the two countries will set up a ATU (Amphibious
Task Force) for international missions. I guess it´s there where the
amoured Strb 90HS come to use.

Swedish officers speaking to Finnish soldiers. Finnish and Swedish is two
very different languages, but at this particular Finnish brigade they actually
speak Swedish, so having a combined ATU wouldn´t be problematic in that
aspect atleast

That Polish landing class ship is quite impressive, but during the cold war,

for short and medium range it is enaught and for long range... well there are always other ships in escort... and our ships were intendet for denmark not for sweden ;-) BTW how you move heavier stuff on your islands??? i.e Gotland without large ships?
