How the heck do they know it was a RPK? Did they see the shooter that well? Or they meant a PKM? Just wondering...

If you can tell, in the middle of a firefight, the difference between the sounds of an AKM and a RPK....
Well, is really irrelevant anyways. For sure they got shot.

that Hummvee is uparmored, right?
I doubt that a "light" version could deflect a mechinegun's 7.62 round like that.

I dont believe anyone can hear the difference between different weapons being shot at you.
all you hear is a supersonic "snap"..
Ive tried being fired upon (ofcurse, i was behind a thick concrete wall) by different weapons. 5.56mm, 7.62mm, 12,7 and 14,5. They all made the same sound.. Only difference is their rate of fire (when on automatic), but you hardly notice that, as you would propaby be bussy shooting back :-D
if the shooter is close by, then you might be able to hear the rifle firing as well...
But nuff about that.. hes a lucky fella, anyway!

That was definitely an Up-armored Humvee. Look at the thickness of the doors, the plating around the turret, and the protection over the windows. That is not on a standard Humvee.

Anyone able to shed light on what kinds of metal the up-armored Humvees consist of? The armor on the doors appears softer or less dense than the metal plating surrounding the turret. I'm noticing that the marks where the bullets struck the turret are just marring of the paint, but the marks on the doors look like deep gashes.

AP???
And maybee because of the ammount of shots fired they could determine it wasnt 30 round mag of ak... :-( I dunno also... just guessing.

No its not. Not the REAL up-armored.
There should be no penetration from com block 7.62.
We have a sample of the armor down on my range. Its been lit up with jacketed 8mm from an MG42, .30-06, SS109 from ARs and M16s, 7.62x51 from a CETME and various other stuff. No dimples or penetration, just spall. The stuff is amazing and it has a kevlar backing as well, which I assume (though not necessarily correct in this case), is to contain any actual fragmentation of light stuff (I cannot imagine it actually doing anything to large caliber stuff or HEAT rounds.
The door armor armor applique in the video is obvious made of a milder steel given the penetration or possibly even aluminum plate (though I could not tell).

an RPK has a reak unique sound to it, enough that you can tell its different. Ive heard that, however i dont actually have the experience to confirm it.
