Some photos he has allowed me to post for all to see, we hope you enjoy them. :)
He was in Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) (I won't go into exact details as he wishes that not to happen.) and was out in 'The Sandbox' (as it's known today) right from the build-up to the clear-up. I could go into it more, but it'd be boring ;).
Anyway now the photos...
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459AK.jpg
'His' AK, one of many captured/found.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Blackhawk.jpg
The crew were looking for water, so my Dad and others gave them a few crates of bottled water, and in return the Americans took them for a ride.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Camel.jpg
One of the locals.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Challenger.jpg
A Challenger awaiting 'desertization'.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Challengers.jpg
Another lot of Challengers awaiting for some attention.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Cobra.jpg
An AH-1 Cobra flying overhead.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Cobra2.jpg
Another Cobra, this time over the near empty desert.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Fun.jpg
Having some fun in the desert.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Gazelle.jpg
A Gazelle, unsure of which nationality though, the camo' doesn't look British. Maybe French?
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Home.jpg
'Home, sweet home.'
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Huey.jpg
UH-1 over the desert. An American one I think. (They were used alongside the UH-60s back then.)
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Huey2.jpg
Another Iroquois aka 'Huey'.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459M109.jpg
A lone M109 out in the distance.
http://www.ukairsoft.net/gallery/data/3060/3459Scimitar.jpg
Scimitars awaiting shipment.
I'll see if me and him can dig out some more.
