Are there any height or weight restrictions in elite/speical forces/swat units around the world i read somwhere that in WW2 in some german units you wouldn`t be accepted if you were under 1.70m.
If you do your job phisical, race and *** should not be means of rejection from certain units IMO but...

Well, if you're 5'5" and 295 lbs...you don't have a snowball's chance in hell.
Here's the chart that is 'technically' supposed to be the central idea...

Certain jobs take your BMI very seriously. Mainly pilots and other aircraft positions are affected by this rule, but could be others too depending on what country etc. Regarding ground stuff i would think it's more a matter of passing basic training/selection or not. If you're a fatbody but by some miraculous way get through, then you're up for the job and your weight shouldn't be an issue.

I think there should be lowered requirements for tall people, because we're a lot more threatening looking. It's not all about your abilities, your looks play a part too. If the enemy sees a bunch of short guys coming at him he's not gonna be too scared but if he sees some giants coming at him he's gonna freak. Tall people command respect.

?
Height has nothing to do w/ respect...these, on the other hand, do...

I've always thought that tall guys and/or guys with bulging muscles just make bigger targets. If you were trying to qualify for some shooting course, would you prefer bigger or smaller targets? :)

I am unaware of a 'special forces endurance Techniques' book. It sounds like something that can be bought off Amazon.com
You may be speaking of the FM's of the U.S. Army, if so, those are also publically available, nothing special.

Bull****. Audie Murphy was like 5'5" and look what he accomplished.
What??? Japanese guys aren't very tall and they would kamikaze you with a freaking sword. I'm 5'11" and you don't think I would stick a bayonet into a 6'8" giant? rofl

totally not true.. I am not tall and while there are plenty in certain elite units that I served in that are "big guys" many are shorter than me too. The most common trait was mental strength.

Thats why It says generally and not every short man is incapable of being in the special forces and only tall men can fight in wars.
Read it properly before you get all worked up.
You can get the special forces book off Military book club. Thats where I got it.

10-15 cm above the average height is too little as to make a person a bigger target i was not asking you about 2.30m people and not their fighting capabilities(i admire the little gurkhas).
I was only asking if there are certain requirments for height/weigh.
Also what height is a average soldier 1.75m ? what about average weight.
Thanks
Average height 1.75? Not in the Netherlands. :D

The U.S and British army studies showed that special forces types are generally taller than average.
and you put up stupid pictures calling me a dumb**** for putting down a fact.
Think about that for one second.

It's very difficult to hear a story like that when you obviously pulled that out of your ass.
p.s. the average U.S. infantryman is about 5'8" and the average American male is 5'10"

SpecOps Operators are average height / weight.
Ther are few reasons why they shouldnt be too big:
1. Smaller people have better stamina
2. Smaller people need less food etc.
3. Smaller people have better movment co-ordination

height is not necessarily a requirement for combat success...have seen a lot of short generals - something to do with being small makes them tougher or gives them a Napoleon complex.

LtGen Krulak and Gen Krulak are something like 5'4" Gen Jones is something like 6'4"
there was a pic of them standing side by side but couldn't find it on the net...
but for uniformity appearance purposes...drill team Marines at Marine Barracks 8th and I are between something like 6' and 6' 4" or something like that.

Do you like dogs? A big and heavy mastin is not rival for a medium size terrier. Itīs not only height and weight, although is important. Character is at least as important as strenght.
