Should be floating in the net for ages...
but still spectacular for everytime I see it.

If there is I doubt we'll know about it for years to come.

as i see it he just uses a beamer to project a live camfeed on his white jacket or am I wrong? its not like his clothes can adopt to his surrounding and its nothing practical enough to be used for military purpose.

The whole thing is self contained. There are supposedly thousands of cameras and little screens and stuff. What is behind him is broadcast to the front of him in real time.

The only working optical camouflage I know is from this gentleman:

but its stationary - so its nothing you can use on infantry - maybe you could use it to camouflage parking aircraft or vehicles ...

i think more interesting is some technology ive seen on tv once - it was something like a flatscreen only millimeter thick and flexible like a overhead transparency with a small internal battery - its not suitable to make realtime pics but you can use it to show a motionless pic - it was designed for supermarkets and stuff to lable products but maybe you could use it on vehicles and change the camo pattern like a chameleon :)
just cant find anything on the net about it because i dont know how it was called...

I saw a BBC nature programme about a year ago where they had "camouflaged" a mobile, remote controlled camera by putting mirrors on all sides of its boxy superstructure.

It worked quite well in the undergrowth becuase it reflected whatever foliage was around it.

Saw an article on this a couple years ago. Almost completely useless for military application.

If you want shifting camo patterns, electro-optical coatings have been tested a for years as well on aircraft--applying different charges to different areas changes the pattern.

Until then I suppose lying down and lying down behind something will have to do...

Not bad, the camera might get muddy giving the enemy a chance to spot it though.
