depends on the school, what you intend on studying,if you want to stay in the dorms, how many credits you are taking, the reputation of the school(not always the case),and what type of degree you want.

Oh, thats giving me more choises then I can handle... ;)
Is there any typical numbers we can trow around?
I'm kinda in the dark as to what is high and low, since in Sweden for example, the university is free of charge...

Undergradutate tuition her at the University of Tennesee runs around $2125 a semester and that includes nothing but class. Law school is considerably more, around $3500 a semester.
At the University of Mississippi it is about $1500 a semester.
Those are ball park and the range for big state university tuition runs from $1500 to anywhere up to $10,000 or more for private schools. These numbers include nothing but tuition.

Ah, yeah, I can see that.
To keep the rent separete from the tutuion, it might be best to get numbers excluding living-costs.
Have a friend that went 'over' some 10 months ago to become a trafic pilot. he had flight-cert here from smal airplanes, but said the best larger schools for training-flights is in the US, and that is why he had to go. It would however cost atleast 60.000$
What is included in the tutuion?
Update: Thanks Hank for the numbers!

Usually private schools are more expensive, and harder to get into, but that doesn't make a privatre school better then public universities or jr/community colleges. I started out at University of Texas in Austin, which is the largest university in North America,, some of my classes had up to 500 students, the class rooms look like arenas they are huge, they have around 55 thousand students in Austin I transfered to Baylor which only has 13 thousand students.
Tuition* $17,900
Required Fees 1,980
Room 3,120
Board** 3,336
Total $26,336x4=$105,344.00
* $17,900 flat rate ($8,950 each semester for students taking 12 hours or more).
** Includes the Classic 16 meal plan and $288 as the estimated cost of Sunday evening meals which are not available in the residence halls.
*** The total cost does not include books/supplies, transportation, or personal expenditures.
• For the average Baylor student: The cost of books is estimated at $1,356 per year. Transportation costs are estimated at $1,370 and personal expenses at $1,778.
• International Baylor students may have different travel costs and in addition must be prepared to cover health insurance.
