Great pics Hawk. Thanks for sharing.

I sure would not like to be at the receiving end of a volley of these Smerch rockets.

Apparently the range of these rockets have been extended to 90 km.

Yeah, Russians know how to build trucks, these things are huge! Wehn will the USA build an rocket launcher on thier M977 trucks? Its intresting to note, that there is also a mobile command post based on the same type of truck. I cant find the photo I had of it. Hmm.....was there ever a thread about mobile command posts and command vehicles?

SMERCH mean STORM or TEMPEST.
In the GRU world SMERCH was the abreviation of SMIR SPIONEN (not sure of the spelling, sorry), that is to say "mort aux espions(in french)" "death for the spies(in english)"

I visit your MOD's official site yesterday, and saw some beautiful pics there,It's a pity that once again I notice that your multiluncher is not Russian!Possibly because it's expensive for you:( you are using chinese Type80 or something.

MAZ trucks are build in Minsk, Belarus.

Smert' shpionam = SMERSH (СМЕРШ). Tornado = Smerch (Смерч).

Didnt knew they are build in Belarus. Maybe I confused that with UAZ, but a lot of trucks that are used by the Russians come from the other ex-soviet nations. Still, MAZ trucks will be always acciocated with Russia.

SMERSH wasn’t associated with GRU, it was quiet the opposite - Counterintelligence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterintelligence) Directorate.
