A good documentary. Thank you for posting this.

Even tho i am a bit fearfull that this may turn out into another flame war considering the things that we're discussed in this documentary.

lol yeah right....
one funny thing about the germans, once the russian and alies invaded and took over the Germany, all of the people there claimed that they were forced to support Hitler, once he was dead suddenly all of them were "against" him. Hmmmm

Yes, that was the self-protection mechanism that all the brainless followers used to protect themselves. At that time they finally realized that they had supported an evil system, and they could probably get prosecuted for that.

This has changed in the meanwhile, and in these days, critical discourses are led in most parts of society, both in Germany and Austria, having led to a very detailled knowledge of all the cruelties conducted by the Nazis from 1933 to 1945. I wrote "most parts of society", because, as usual, there are always a bunch of lunatics who still approve the NS regime, but these people are either predominantly in the Skinhead youth culture in these countries, old SS members who are going to die out anyway in a few years or members of certain student fraternities (but with a more German nationalism attitude).

Unfortunately, I can't provide any links, but I can assure you, there are literally hundreds of documentaries about various aspects of German history in different degrees of detailedness, and almost every week you will find at least one such documentary on one of the TV stations in Germany or Austria.

The Russians did their fair share of rape and pillaging in the first few weeks. A lot actually.

But then all the USSR administrative and communist organisations ordered strict punishments for any Red Army soldiers caught doing such things. In addition, plenty of food was ordered to be transported into Germany, in order to be distributed to German Civilians.

If what you say is correct, then its a very positive thing that is happening... I just feel that Soviets and allies should have done more to capture and punish those who supported Hitler and not just let them get that easy away by saying that they were forced to support him. But its not that easy to prove who really was supporting Hitler and who was forced to do so.

While people were starving in other parts of the Soviet union, Stalin already had the cold war on his mind and realised the Importance of Berlin in it.

Well, I guess it was politically inopportune to prosecute the political opportunists too harsh, as it could have turned the general feeling of the Allies being the liberators to the Allies being the great punisher. Most of the important people that were involved in starting the war or implementing the holocaust could be captured (some committed suicide, some fled to Arab countries or South America) and prosecuted anyway, and so the status of being "politically less encumbered" was introduced to reintegrate e.g. the former NSDAP members (many of them were only members because it helped their career) into the society.

Na considering what they done in Sovietunion they could hardly expect soviets to treat them like western allies, which didn't experienced the bloodiest occupation of 20th century.

Ive seen the footage of that kid being awarded the iron cross before, but never realized he did survive the war. Kinda freaky in a way.
