Apologies for any offence caused I merely scanned the best/most dramatic pictures I had, didn't mean to imply any subliminal message.

In viewing the image of the German mortor team, do you have idea of what the markings on the jacket of the right side soldier indicate? Thanks for sharing...

German National Eagle on right breast, collar litzen(braid) worn by all ranks of Heer (Army) in differing grades of finish with appropriate waffenfarbe(arm of service identification),left sleeve chevron shows rank - gefreiter/corporal

I think he is asking about the front of the jacket. There is something unusual on the soldiers left front below the breast pocket. Maybe it is simply writing on the photo?

The original photo is slightly clearer, it appears to say '1938' then below that 'RA ?5'.

This was part of the 1939 manoeuvres in preparation for invading Poland if that helps.
