Wow, a fine piece of PR.
Join the armed forces and there will be a chick with bloated lips going "wow, how cool" every two seconds. Everything is just so freaking wonderful. But what can you expect? They are targeting young kids full of testosterone. It makes sense, but is nonetheless, should I say, comical.

Why is it that some sport guys think they are better combat experts than the guys that have "been there and done that".
Because they probably are. I don't mean any offense but a person who is a trained MMA fighter is probably better at it than your run of the mill military person, just like not everyone in the military is an excellent shooter, there are civilian shooters out there who could outshoot most anybody in the military.

Exactly, and that's why military people aren't always as good as civilians, more things to focus on, and MMA isn't exactly a fight to the death either. If the guy wants to show how good he is, he should try himself in a bar room brawl, where there are chairs and other hard objects to be used, then he might get a real idea of fighting for survival.

On the whole, if hand to hand combat is taught at all in a military environment, it is to do primarily with self defence. A soldier/marine/uber bad ass SEALNINJA!111 doesn't rely on hand to hand as an offensive tool, that is why man invented the firearm, and as a last resort, sharp pointy things to gouge and stab with. If Terry Taliban is over running your position, you don't **** about with MMA/Muy Thai/ Feng bloody Shui, you stab, bite, shoot, pray to get out of the situation.
Most military personnel's idea of hand to hand combat is pub brawls.

SF's don't need to be able to defeat those skilled in mixed martial arts, just the oposition they encounter while on the job e.g. clearing the caves of tora bora. Personally I suspect one of the reasons SF keep their identy secret is to avoid encounters with the pub bully, when out for a drink.
Training in unarmed & edged weapon combat and to some extent handguns, is used to build esprit de corp, confidence, an agressive spirit and a can do attitude.

i dont really wanna hurt anyones ninja commando fantasies or anything, but the truth is, for example, i have many close friends who are SEALs and marine recon here in virginia beach, and though they are extremely good operators, they are not good fighters, period. most have very little or no martial arts training, i mean theirs a big difference between them and us, who train MMA 4 to 5 hours a day 3 to 4 times a week, wrestling, boxing, brazilian juijitsu and muay thai, we train and condition our bodies to deliever and take punishment in a fight, like they train with weapons and tactics, its not just fighting, for example, but being able to take a thai kick to the jaw or to the thighs by a trained thai boxer,or taken down by a division 1 wrestler, thats no joke, so as well train a SEAL or a green beret is(much respect to them by the way) they would not last more than a few seconds or maybe a min against a trained MMA fighter, conditioned to fight for five 5 min rounds full contact, thats just the reality of it

If I'm not mistaken though they don't need to be able to take thai kicks to the jaw, they need to be able to survive in combat and perform at the highest level in that envrionment, not in the ring. It's two differnt things. Not that I would ever want to take on either a SEAL or an MMA fighter but it is two differnt things that you can't really compare. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Who really gives a ****? SEALS don't train for MMA or any of that ****. They train to get out and doa job that MATTERS. They train and condition their bodies to survive freezing conditions, be wet and cold for weeks at a time, tab scores of K's with everything required to eat, **** and fight until resupply, 25 minutes of full contact punchy punchy looks pretty damn appealing once you've been in an OP for 2 weeks in the freezing cold, crapping in a bag and not allowed any heat or hot food for fear the enemy will detect you and some Muj will cut your head off.

dude, i know, i am not doubting special operators skillz lol, chill out, i am just saying just cause your in special operations, doesnt always mean you can fight, i can personally tell you that, MMA fighters, we are way better conditioned physically and mentally to fight in a ring or a cage, and yes we will get our asses handed to us in combat against a rent a cop with a gun, much less a SEAL, and no special operators are not better conditioned comparing to a boxer, wrestler or a MMA fighter, running 5 miles on the beach, and swimming 2 miles is very different from running 5 miles, followed by 60 min of wrestling and 60 more min of boxing and brazilian juijitsu, while getting pounded and slammed

Thats not to say Operators can't hold their own in a fight. It reminds me of the 5th Group soldier who fought off 4 Taliban fighters hand to hand when they snuck up behind him in a building, hit him with wood planks, dislocated his shoulder, and he managed to fight off all of them and kill them.

I don't know, carrying a heavy ass pack in the desert for miles on end seems a lot tougher then boxing and wrestling. I've met a few people who are or claim to be in the Special Operations community at triathlons and I think a triathlon is by far a lot harder then wrestling and boxing for 2 hours. So to say that MMA fighters are in better shape might not be true.

You remind me of some of my "friends" I trained with in a funny little town by the name of Artesia. Our close quarters defense instructor asked if any of us had martial arts training. Several raised thier hands. I have several years of it but didn't say a thing.
They where asked to take the mat and display thier skill. After they had all been handed their "bottoms" we were able to move on and learn.
One of my best instructors there was former SEAL. We got to be good friends....I respect him more than I can say because he never had to tell any stories or talk big. As soon as he walked into the room you could tell he had seen the elephant.
Speed. Suprise. Violence in action.

Ahh well, there's always someone who wants to play Billy Badass.
As far as team guys not being able to fight? I beg to differ.
As far as MAA guys beating up SEALs?, maybe, maybe not, who cares?
Does MAA mean anything? nope, just another silly sport. Wannbe tough guys thinking that competition equalls real life, like IPSIC shooters.
Believe it or not, guys like this are common. When you have a reputation like the SEAL Teams do, there's always someone thinking they can elevate themselves by talking/ attempting to bring us down. I'm not saying it can't be done, or hasn't been done, just saying it never happened while I was around. I am in no way claiming to be some martial arts expert, far from it. It's simply that team guys understand the concept of team, you'll never fight just one of us, and it's rarely the guy you are in a scuffle with that ends up knocking you out.
I've learned a long time ago that fighting fair is for fools. The only unfair fight is the one you lost.

I've learned a long time ago that fighting fair is for fools. The only unfair fight is the one you lost.
...this is true.
LOL!

Words of wisdom right there.

i dont really wanna hurt anyones ninja commando fantasies or anything, but the truth is, for example, i have many close friends who are SEALs and marine recon here in virginia beach, and though they are extremely good operators, they are not good fighters, period. most have very little or no martial arts training, i mean theirs a big difference between them and us, who train MMA 4 to 5 hours a day 3 to 4 times a week, wrestling, boxing, brazilian juijitsu and muay thai, we train and condition our bodies to deliever and take punishment in a fight, like they train with weapons and tactics, its not just fighting, for example, but being able to take a thai kick to the jaw or to the thighs by a trained thai boxer,or taken down by a division 1 wrestler, thats no joke, so as well train a SEAL or a green beret is(much respect to them by the way) they would not last more than a few seconds or maybe a min against a trained MMA fighter, conditioned to fight for five 5 min rounds full contact, thats just the reality of it
The freakin' internet.

takavar, you have no idea how somone else fights. One day you might be all tough, go pick on the wrong person and you will get knocked the **** out mate, I hate it when people are that cocky because they are "trained fighters". Well get this, a SEAL is NOT a "trained fighter", they are a TRAINED KILLER, I would like to see you and your MMA buddies pick up a rifle and man a post or take on an operation, then you will see just how there is a difference between training to MMA fight and training to not be killed in combat.
And look how honorable those are who are captured, especially special operations personel, they dont give away information because thats what they are trained to do, I bet that you and your MMA buddies would be as tough as a wet crispy in a situation like that.
I can say this because I am a martial artist myself (MMA, TKD, Kung Fu), and joining the army very soon, but no way in hell would I go out of my way to pick fights or use standover tactics on other people because I know how to fight, thats not what martial arts or fight training is about...only losers do that..
You say you have SEAL and Marine buddies, yet you go out and pick fights with other SEALs and such? I think that those who go out and look for fights are just try hard tools, grow the hell up.
Right...just had to get that off my chest..
Awesome video Ravage, cheers.

Nice vid.
BTW the un-named poster being slammed is truly an @sshat. Go back into the ring, ding ding!
:bash: Having said that...
The girl in the video is a little annoying but easy on the eyes and she is upbeat about her job that's for sure. Also, keep in mind that videos like this are intended to be shown to current U.S. servicemen and women in order to inform and/or recruit them to try out for other jobs within the military. They do interviews like this all the time for just about every specialized job. They show them on the Armed Forces telecommunications systems everywhere. It might seem lame to some but when your stuck on a ship for months or sitting in some country in BFE with nothing to do. You'd be surprised how much you pay attention to videos like those. At least it's something to do.

yeah, I saw this a long time ago on the US navy websites weekly webcasts. They did a few over the years with seals. One guy was from the Leap Frogs. They had some other pretty cool ones too, with pilots and what not. good post.

PLEASE choke her >.< Oh..well.. apart from the interviewer, nice video(s), what i don't get is, why make 2 videos with the same interviewer and guest, in the same program, and ask pretty much the same questions ~50% of the time :S
Is this supposed to be a promotion video for the public to make people join SEALs or what is it supposed to be?
It seems like a program for people with low intelligence and annoying questions. Like the interviewer..:bash:

It did seam like a video like saying here's how to join the seals kinda im not sure oh well. But i am sure that the woman interviewing her was annoying. I thought a couple of times he was like going to jump up and twist her head off or something. It seemed like he was kinda getting pissed. I would be to if i had to deal with that.

This makes me sick. Takavar -- I'm sure the team guys and FR guys in VA Beach are real scared of you and your tool mates' MMA skills. Only a chump like you would say something about beating down service members on this board, where there are a number of active-duty soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines.
Notice how none of them call you out for a little get-together in VA Beach? That's because you're a ****stain, and they use their time wisely, versus getting into fights like a mouth-breathing, sub-100 IQ moron like you.
Now go back into the ring and get your brains scrambled a little more you bitch. And say any more crap like this and it's adios.
