Hi!
I have been thinking about one thing, thermal and infra red cameras... is there any way to hide from them? When you look at footage from Iraq, an airplane is circling far above the target. the target is well hidden but it still glows from the heat, then BOOOOM! Gone!
with this technology you CANT hide anymore... there must be some countermeasures... otherwise whats the point of fighting an enemy with air-superiority? or better thermal equipment?

There are ways around it. Sniper suits designed to emit the very least of thermal radiation, tank covers that disrupt the thermal signature for example.
In the case of tanks, a lot of night fighting engagements are reliant on the correct identification of the thermal signature to avoid blue on blue, disrupting the signature can throw doubt on a targets ID.

OK, so how good is this sniper suit? does it remove all heat? in that case, every soldier should have one, to stand a chance against airplanes at night...

We havent been fighting many forces that have airpower.
At some stage you have to man it up, appreciate that they might be able to see you, and get on with your job.

It vastly reduces it. They're impractical for all round use because they're a essentially a ghillie suit. Due to the containment of thermal radiation, they also heat your body up a lot.

There are counter-measures and deception measures....none of which will be posted here. - Thanks.
